LPs... so very long ago. Memories.
Though it's considered a masterpiece, and a collector's item, I'd say the (
in)famous Beatles
Yesterday and Today Butcher cover...
Why because it shocked everyone. Capitol Records quickly confiscated them (First state), and some were pasted over (Second state.) Others had the sleeves peeled back (Third state). Lastly, most were shipped back to Capitol and put into new sleeves. The "new" picture depicts the band gathered around a opened trunk or suitcase. Paul McCartney is sitting on the floor in the open trunk.
A genuine First state
Butcher cover Yesterday and Today Mono (1997 prices) goes from $1,500 to $3,000 on the open market today. Stereo versions (1997 prices) $3,000 to $7,000.00. However that price can go for anything, whatever the seller chooses.
For example, in 1986, I paid for the 45 single, A side -"Yesterday"/ B-side "Act Naturally" - in a
Butcher cover. I paid the guy $350.00 at the LP, Record/Tape convention held in a neighboring town. So it is what the seller wants to charge for it.
I'd put up a picture but it probably would be banned.
