In the age of silent films there were porn films called 'Blue movies', who were the big names in porn back then if any?

Are there any websites on the history of porn films and when & who made the first porn film?

I would think that back in the era of silent movies, there wouldn't have been any big names, because of the taboo nature of "blue movies". Those types of movies back then were very far from mainstream, and I'm guessing they weren't talked about very much in mixed company.

It would be interesting to know if there were any performers that were noteworthy back then- i.e. considered especially nasty, or "out there", even by the porn standards of their day.
