Did Hillary do this one too?
Ron did it. The guy obviously knew too much. ;)

Ralph Norman, Republican House member from SC’s 5th District, wanted “Marshall Law” declared in order to disrupt Biden’s inauguration. He then goes on to say that such a measure is needed in order to “sav[e] our Republic.”

Let’s ignore the difference between Marshall and martial. Simple mistake made all the time. John Marshall must rollover each time his legacy is associated with this shit.

How does declaring martial law save the Republic? Taking that measure to disrupt the transfer of power between parties would rupture the Republic. Other threads mention local governments scheming to maintain power. This is no different.

Kinzinger’s Fare Thee Well Speech
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/rep-kinzinger-slams-gop-sheltering-051949948.html

It sounds like he learned a lot in DC. In his final address he rebuked the leadership of both parties. Good governance has given way to partisan wars - and we keep electing them.

“The Republican Party used to believe in a big tent, which welcomed the tired, the poor, the huddled masses yearning to breathe free … Now we shelter the ignorant, the racist, who only stoke anger and hatred to those who are different than us.”

“To my Democratic colleagues, you must too bear the burden of our failures … Over the past two years, Democratic leadership had the opportunity to stand above the fray … Instead, they poured millions of dollars into the campaigns of MAGA Republicans, the same candidates Biden called a national security threat, to ensure these good Republicans did not make it out of their respective primaries,"

"This is no longer politics as usual. This is not a game."

Ummm...like when? Like fucking when? No, seriously I'd like to know just what they hell this idiot is actually talking about. I can't tell what reality he lives in.:ROFLMAO:

That hasn't been true since at least before my great grandfather was born if ever. Maybe a short time after the very end of the Civil War they were better in that regard than their political rivals which is about what, over a 150 years ago.

I didn't think supporting the MAGA people to sabotage Republicans was a smart idea either and didn't agree with it, but just as foolish is believing in the notion of "good Republicans", or deciding to be "above the fray" or taking the high road where once again Democrats would choose to bring a knife to a gun fight and get their asses handed to them because of it. Fuck that shit. The Republicans choose to degrade our institutions and democracy and it would be stupid to sit back and let them have an advantage because of that. Norms and rules, and stuff like etiquette only apply when all sides want to abide by them.

Extra innings - we head into the 10th. How long can this go on?

We need to go back to antebellum era for this kind of drama. I can see #5 being within reach.

After 7 losses, McCarrhy goes for 8. The Dems should try negotiating with McCarthy to see if they can find some common ground.
Fuck that shit. Not that I'm a big fan of him, but if I was a Democrat and the Republicans wanted compromise a handful of them can sit out or vote for Jeffries. That would be their only "compromise". If I was the Democratic leadership or just anybody on the caucus I would even threaten to publicly disown and make thier life hell anybody that even thought of the idea of some scheme to join Republican to elect a McCarthy or any other Republican. Other than that they should just sit back, watch, and bring the popcorn.

Saving the Republicans' asses and their embarassment for some very minor concessions if foolish.

Never interrupt your opponent when they are making a mistake, and sure as hell don't help them.

That would work as well. I read elsewhere that some Dems were considering a compromise candidate. My suggestion and yours are long shots, but the speculation is interesting.

McCarthy failed a 10th time. Onto 11 … Will Kevin lose both balls before being elected Speaker?

This reminds me a little of what Joe and Kyrsten did in the Senate. The House dysfunction will be very entertaining.
