The line that wants to watch F1 races with Ivy forms down the block... behind me.

On a more serious note, does anyone else have the feeling that whatever happened with Kimi yesterday might have sealed his fate with Ferrari? I mean, I like Kimi. But in that same car, could Daniel Ricciardo, Valteri Bottas or Nico Hülkenberg not do as well or better? It just seems like the Kimi of old is no more. Maybe it was a mechanical or electrical glitch that caused him to spin. But anymore, it always seems to be something.

Oh, and with that win by Hammy, the world is right again. But why did they keep harping about fuel to Hamilton, when the FOM graphics kept showing him having lower fuel usage than Rosberg and most of the other runners? Did they short fill him for some reason, and he had less fuel on board than Nico? :dunno:

On queuing: I am picking up that gauntlet ;)

Regarding the fuel story - I bet they keep putting out these bullshit story to tip the competition off balance. The german commentators had a little discussion about the extra percentage the Mercedes cars had on top of what they used in Toronto, too. I don't know how much they can throw into the race if the occasion finally arises, it sure isn't the case right now, and as both of them stay on the lower setting, they race is a bit of a farce.

The day will come when Ferrari etc will pick up the speed and the races will get a whole lot hotter

Kimi seemed totally fine going round the hairpin and then it looked for all the world like he made a rookie mistake getting on the power too early (Vettel almost binned his car by driving on the grass too). Maybe there was a power surge or something from the KERS or something since he complained of something similar in practice I think but if there was an issue you figure it wouldn't only happen once.

They could've given Hamilton a bit less fuel than Rosberg but considering the fuel usage stats on the end of the race it seems likely that they both had the full 100 kg in the tank.

Whatever it was - Kimi did exactly the same thing at that hairpin last year... twice. Once in practice and once in the race. That's why he said "IT'S THE SAME THING AS LAST YEAR!!!" on the radio after he spun. I watched a re-run of year's race at the weekend and can confirm it was an absolutely identical incident. Watching it also made me realize just how much better last year's race was. This year's was desperately poor. It would've seemed a whole lot better had it been watched from the viewing perspective that Ivy provided however!

I had the feeling that Kimi had got fed up of F1 in 2009 so it was no surprise when he left to race elsewhere. However, in 2012 when he returned, he seemed reinvigorated and was absolutely stunning in the Lotus considering it was his first year back. He has never looked the part in his 2nd spell at Ferrari though. His qualifying performance is absolutely dreadful. He's generally good in the race but he leaves himself with too much to do being so far back on the grid. There are plenty of drivers ready to step into his place at Ferrari.

One other thing to note was that Kyvat's now outperformed Ricciardo in the last 2 weekends. Its too soon to say if he's as good or better than his teammate but if this continues and its not just Ricciardo having mechanical issues then he's looking good for the rest of his career.

Line up gentlemen, The ones who vote for me for OCSM of the week gets first dibs ;)

As far as Ferrari and Kimi, the American announcers mentioned something about an interview with Ferrari, where they said "He's a good driver but there are a lot of good drivers in F1." In my opinion, Ferrari is always looking at the podium. Of course, they want anybody who finishes in front of their current drivers. They may have their eyes on Bottas, but what I think should happen (and we all know that everyone should defer to me at all times) is that they should recruit Rosberg because nobody wants to beat Hamilton more, and we know he's quick... it would make for a more interesting race, rather than having Mercedes dominate at every turn.

I'm happy that Hamilton won the Canadian GP. He deserved it, and he is just so damn good with the fans-it's hard not to love him. I think Vettel will soon give him a run for his money. It probably would have happened at Montreal, if Vettel had qualified. (and Vettel was sexy as FUCK when he drove up through the positions :drool2:)

Also, Rosberg was complaining about a lack of rear grip in qualifying, and the former Benetton mechanic suggested a drop in tire pressure to cope with this. Sure, they could have done that- (and they may have) or given him more rear downforce, but both of these would create drag and slow the car down. If they had softened the rear suspension instead, they could have given him that grip and not reduced top speed. I'm sure they all started out with the same fuel, it seems to be pretty strictly regulated in that regard... but what do I know :dunno: I'm just a model :bounce:

I think the fuel regs are maximums: 100kg. And I think it was McLaren that mistakenly short-filled a car several years ago (though I *think* there was still refueling then?). I can't remember for sure, but it seems like that was Lewis' car. So I questioned the calls from the Mercedes pitwall to Lewis to lift and coast because the graphics we saw showed Hamilton in better shape than Rosberg (and most everybody else in the field), with regard to fuel used - but we have no way of knowing how much he started with. Course, knowing Mercedes, maybe their "maths" were wrong again. That bunch... I tell ya.

Very good summation on the ways to deal with oversteer, Ivy. There's obviously more to your story than we know so far. Those are not things that the average fan would know or understand. You're either an avid reader (who can comprehend what she reads), an engineering student or you've spent a lot of time around the race track. From what a member of the Rahal crew told me, even Danica didn't understand the intricacies of how to cure oversteer and understeer when she was in Atlantics, right up through her IRL days - which is why other racers tended to setup her car for her.

Ivy Question Time: have you ever driven a car with one seat and two wings?

:) My bookshelves are filled with technical books.. I like to use them to tune my cars on my racing games ;)

...maybe if Danica knew how to set up a car, she'd be a better driver.

and to answer your question.. Not yet! Only virtually :D

If we all would get the same racing game with online multiplayer options, we could meet on the track and go for some rounds

I used to play N4S Shift a lot

I love this idea!!! :)

I am looking for some new gear to manoevre the car, my hands are not as nimble as they were, used to race Lambos and Koenigseggs with the Cursor keys and STRG and Spacebar ^^

No joke, I know Nissan has selected accomplished SIM players to drive for their racing teams. It would be cool if you got selected at some point.

From what a member of the Rahal crew told me when Danica was in Atlantics, she had loads of potential. She really did. But as soon as she started finding that popularity paid as well as or better than winning, she stopped developing to her full potential and started worrying more about her Q rating. And that's how she became the mediocre driver that she is today. And yet, some people still mention her going to Formula One? Why would any team hire a 33-34 year old who has never won a professional road course race in her life??? You're much younger, obviously much smarter and knowledgeable on the technical side of the car... and you wouldn't need to prove that you're hawt (Danica tries too hard, IMO - and having met her, I can say that she's not all that attractive).

Maybe we should try to crowdfund you into some kind of formula car racing school or something like that. And if you make it to the big time, I also have a suggestion for who your manager should be. ;) Flavio Briatore might say that he'd be a better manager than me. But I warn you, he's all hands. OK, so am I... but that's beside the point.

But until then... congrats to Nico Hulkenberg and his Porsche boys for winning Le Mans. Now, on to Austria!

Yes, great for Nico to step out of F1 and win Le Mans. Let's remember despite how highly everyone rates him he has never scored a podium in F1. This will do his prospects of getting a seat higher up the grid no harm at all.

I watched this video about the Le Mans 2015, and found it interesting that Francois Hollande visited the race and took their time honoring it.

I think that they, maybe very rightly so, favor this classic competition over the Formula 1 money machine.

I think that this form of racing is something I missed out too much on.

Damn! Looks sharp :2 cents:

Formula one has a hard time deciding what the future of the sport will look like. to prevent fans from getting bored, the major teams have tossed new ideas for 2017 with new car designs, bigger wheels, and possible 1,000 hp engines. this could mean the aerodynamics of the current F1 cars would be fundamentally different and all the solutions the team developed would then be worth very little. 3D artist and modeler nathan dearsley decided to show the great creativity hope of formula one with the 2056 mclaren ‘mp6/p’.

the prototype strips the aerodynamically complex body panels with sharp lines that still enable for low speed traction. the race car is covered in honda and marlboro decals from the classic 1988 version that ayrton senna won his first world title. the renderings of the 2056 mclaren ‘mp6/p’ gives a bit of small nostalgia to the pinnacle times of formula one.

What did everyone think of the Austrian GP?? You all can probably guess that I was happy with my boy Max Verstappen :). (plus they had a nice little 30 minute special on him last night that was pretty cool.) It wasn't that exciting of a race in my opinion. I DO, however feel like I should have posted some naughty pics for the GP yesterday, but was a little under the weather- so here ya go :lips:
