Hope Webber does, wouldn't be surprised if lady luck doesn't go his way in the remaining races.

As long as it's not Vettle!

I know this isn't very nice, but I'm hoping Alonso does something really stupid this coming race and has to drop out.

And evidently Hamilton won't have another 5 place penalty for the gear box which is good news. Evidently the rule is if you have to replace a gear box outside of the 4 race cycle and it breaks again, it can be replaced again without an additional penalty to the driver.

Agreed and good news indeed. Hamilton really needs Alonso, Vettel and Webber just not to finish in at least one of the remaining races to give him any chance of the championship now, but given his drive, it will make for some interesting racing.

As a new article on the official F1 website tells us, the race will be even more interesting, as the course itself is neww to everybody. The surface is brandnew, too.

“To be honest it’s a very good combination of quite a few different sorts of circuits,” he continued. “Obviously it has some long straights with big stops, which is not dissimilar to Canada, which I think will favour our car. Sector two is a bit more like Turkey, where we performed quite well. And then you come to the last sector, typically a high-downforce sector, a bit more like Hungary perhaps.”

The biggest unknown in Korea, according to Prew, is how the recently-laid track surface will evolve over the course of the weekend. Grip is expected to be pretty low initially, but then rise rapidly as the cars lay down rubber.

“In terms of how it develops and how the tyres interact with it, it is going to be guesswork,” admitted Prew. “It’s going to evolve very quickly through the first session and then I think we can expect it to improve all the way through qualifying and then the race. For ourselves that means we have to be careful about what set-up work we do and when we do the set-up work because a result could be influenced more by track evolution than necessarily the changes we make to the car.”

So, each round will be a new situation, and it's going to an ongoing evolution of 'What will it be like now?'

Can't wait!

Friday practice has just finished with Webber leading the pack from Alonso, Hamilton, Kubica, Button, Massa, Vettel and then Petrov

A pretty mixed bag for the teams, 4 different teams in the top 4 - Red Bull, Ferarri, Mclaren, Renault. Qualifying starts at 6am BST. I should just about manage to raise my carcass from my bed for then.

Vettel leads Red Bull front-row lockout in Korea

Red Bull secured a front-row lockout for the Korean Grand Prix, with Sebastian Vettel taking pole position ahead of championship leader and team-mate Mark Webber.

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso was just 0.181 off Vettel's time and lost out in the twisty final sector of the lap where the Red Bulls were peerless. However, Alonso and McLaren's Lewis Hamilton, who qualified fourth, were considerably faster in the first sector, suggesting they will be able to attack Vettel and Webber at the start.

Hamilton finished 0.5 seconds down on Vettel overall, as both McLarens struggled to maintain tyre temperature and failed to match the expectations they set in practice. Team-mate Button was seventh, behind Nico Rosberg and Felipe Massa on the grid, and will be relying on a good start to get into contention.

Crucial to the start will be the side of the grid the drivers are on. The left hand side, where 2nd place and all the even numbers start from, has hardly been used and is expected to offer very little grip as the drivers pull away.

Also starting on the left will be Robert Kubica, who qualified a slightly disappointing eighth after setting the pace in the final practice session. He will line up ahead of Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello, who have entered into another off-track dispute after the Mercedes blocked the Williams in Q2. The incident did not stop Barrichello making Q3 but may well be reviewed by the stewards and adds to the tension between the ex-Ferrari team-mates after Schumacher drove Barrichello towards the pit wall at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Nico Hulkenberg had the opportunity to take advantage of his team-mate Barrichello's misfortune, but failed to nail a good enough lap and ended up qualifying in 11th. Behind the Williams pair, the two Saubers will start 12th and 13th ahead of Adrian Sutil in 14th. Vitaly Petrov qualified 15th after spinning on his final soft-tyre attempt, but will start from 20th after his Japanese Grand Prix penalty has been factored into the results.

That will move Tonio Liuzzi up one place after he failed to make Q2 for the second race in a row. After a puncture in final practice he entered into the unknown in Q1 on soft tyres and pushed too hard in sectors one and two, leaving him struggling for grip with graining and costing him time in sector three.

Tyre management will be another crucial factor for the race with the low-grip surface working the Bridgestones particularly hard and resulting in high degradation. Depending on the condition of the track, some drivers may have to make two stops and starting on the hard tyres could be an advantage as by the time the track has rubbered in the softs will last longer.

At the very back of the grid, Jarno Trulli was the fastest driver from the new teams ahead of Virgin's Timo Glock. Heikki Kovalainen will start 21st ahead of Lucas di Grassi and Sakon Yamamoto qualified off the back of the grid for the first time this season, beating his HRT team-mate Bruno Senna by 0.8 seconds.

Again, the sheer talent of Vettel wins him a pole. Yet I believe his mismatched lack of stabile personality will make him rather break it than make it.

Side fact: funny that they are doing s good running on french engines :1orglaugh

The real action will take place off the track this weekend. :1orglaugh

What a crazy race! I can't even begin recounting all the incidents and accidents, every saftey course round, every slide and off-track ending

Was extremely good to watch, and Vettel must have been so massively pissed when his motor blew up while just a minute or so away from finishing first and beind new leader on the seasons total count.

The last two laps I kepts hoping Alonso would slide off the track. Meh...at least this puts Hamilton in the running and Brazil IS a McClaren track. ;-) Fingers crossed!

Very bad luck for Vettle, but those sparks were spectacular! I'm sure he was pissed, but there was nothing he could have done to stop it. Now webber on the other hand...I'm bet he's pretty pissed with himself.

And as for the rest, what a race! When there wasn't a safety car out there. ;-)

Well, as for premium drama, I would have a hard time thinking how a race could get any better ^^

Alonso once again proved what a failure of a sportsman is.

But the last races will prove if he can put up enough

Wow that sucked for Vettle. One puff of smoke and he goes from a lock for WDC to a huge long shot. Also, I hate eyebrow man, that is all.

The only downside to Sunday's race was the Alonso win. I was with you, Petra, urging him to put a tyre on the grass and go sliding Webber style into the wall. At least it keeps Hamilton in touch and Webber is still up there as well. Either of these two for the championship.

Good result for hamilton, really needs give it his all for the next to races, love to see abit of the old lewis when it was his first season, when he had nothing to lose.

Really hope Lewis does not win! he is such a bore! Button I like!
