the best sound on earth?

A big-block V-8 through headers and glasspack mufflers- without catalytic converters...

I like Rey C.'s answer, but for me, I love the sound of a small block Chevy V8. For some people, maybe it's kind of generic, but I love the low rumble. The smell of the exhaust is beautiful to me too. A close second is a humbucker equipped guitar through a high gain all tube amplifier. It doesn't have to be a Les Paul through a Marshall, like Jobwell Dunn previously said. The best rig I ever owned was an ESP Eclipse through a Peavey 6505+. That amp made Marshalls its bitch.

Good point, guys. Though, for me, it's the sound of my motorcycle. It's much more quiet than most bikes, but I can tell the speed by the sound. I love it.

Also, I'm not trying to glorify this type of thing in hockey, but turn up your speakers and listen to this hit. It makes me cringe every time, even though I hate the guy who got hit

A big, dry, crisp leaf crunching uniformly underfoot.

Clearly the best sound is the lamentation of their women.

That, or the sound of a porterhouse steak sizzling on the BBQ.

I like the sound of a helicopter roter spinning "chomp...chomp...chomp...chomp". Reminds me of Vietnam.
