The Ashes

Both sides have played quite inconsistently

True. The Aussies should have won at Cardiff and Hing-Ger-Land should have won at Edgbaston. This would have made the series score 2-2.

Mind you , without the Nottinghamshire contribution (Broad and Swann) things would have been a lot worse.

Yes, Hing-Ger-Land could have been 4 nil down by now.

It does ramp up the final Test though-everything to play for. If England had been 2-0 up it would have been a dead game.
Pity about Swann's dismissal-he was giving the crowd some good entertainment and nowhere near touched the ball he was "caught out" from.

A couple of the Aussies have also been on the receiving end of bad decisions. Overall the umpiring in this series has been below par.

Yeah normally the dismals tend to even out over a series and although the Aussies have had a few go there way i think most have been against them. Johnson to Bell in the 3rd test was a bit of a shocker.

Fuck its all gone wrong again......England get your game together, the bleeding aussies are walking it.

The Johnson to Bell one was instrumental in the England collapse.Good job we bat deeply.
Swann's dismissal didn't alter the outcome. I was just enjoying watching him play.
When two bowlers score half the side's runs it makes you wonder. But Swann's Test average is 34 and Broad's is over 30.
Add Matt Prior's batting (46) and that seems to sum up the strength of the side.

There are strong rumours that Mark Ramprakash might make a brief return for the final test! Hopefully Trott won't make an appearance - there are too many Saffers in the English game without the need for yet another one to be called to the colours.

Ramprakash would only be a short term solution though and there's nothing about his internation career that suggests he would be the best option. I think he averages 27 in 52 tests. The main problem is a lack of options in general with reserve batsmen you have Key as well but he's been there before and not held down a place.

Ramps averages 42 vs australia and scored 133 last time he played us. against a team with mcgrath and warne in it.

We actually respect Ramps alot more than the three blind mice who currently occupy the middle order.

I'm really surprised that Robert Key hasn't played more tests. This might be rectified this week if he's called up.

Aggh! Just put the radio on and it's all Ashes but it sounds like it's the last one. They don't sound very hopeful for England.

Here for my humble pie.....:weeping:

BEATEN....NO excuses
Heads will roll for this , selectors to start with , Not convinced either PONTING or TIM NEILSON's jobs are safe either.
Possibly Mr Cricket too.

Great we did it....beat those smug aussies. They can now leave with their tails between their legs. Bye bye (and leave the ashes urn where it is thank you!)

So did England win this Marathon competition?

Is there any other sport in the world that can beat this for the length of time it is on , a game between two teams that lasts for a month or more? Just wondering

Exactly how long did this go on for this year?

Im not being funny here , just interested

At least we'll be spared the sight of a tickertape parade to celebrate the fact that the England team was less bad than the Aussie one.

The Aussie batsmen and bowlers had the better averages, how the **** did htey end up losing ?

Yeah, but that's just ADHD cricket, not the real game *

* - though if England had lost the test series but won the one-dayers then my opinion would have been reversed ;)
