If a porn star can use an alias to keep her real name somewhat hidden and even run her own site making money under this alias, then why should these peoples names be revealed for downloading their material? Although I know the porn stars are legal and downloading copyrighted material is illegal, it just doesnt seem fair that their names are thrown out there like that.

Good point. It's too bad all the names were released and not just the ones that were 'proven' to have downloaded and intentionally broken the law. Innocent names should always be kept private, but just like with most other crimes their names typically do not remain... anonymous (sorry). That's usually public record in most places.

uhm, i get the don't download copywrited material bit, but...
a) the story notes it is peple the law company THOUGHT had pirated, NOT people who had been proven/ convicted of pirating. So your name or my name could be on that list...
b) the people were obviousl NOT customers of the law firm... that is, your name and data could be... No, let's be honest, it IS in a data base somewhere kept by people who don't have your best interest at heart. The world sucks. Freedom isn't without backlash, and here in America our courts protect homophobes who picket soldier's funerals, but won't do jack to stop corporations from using their power and money to 'collect' your personal data for their own use.
c) don't give hackers props... They pirated the data of a company that was tracking data pirates... So who will hack 4Chan's list and share their financials, goals, & internet histories with the rest of the world?
So i guess i agree, so long as I'm not downloading illegally, fuck them if they post my name associated with FreeOnes... what does it prove, i'm a heterosexual male with some free time and an interest in nudity and sex? Hmmm, I think I'm ok with that.

You have to protect your personal information at all times on the internet. It is to easy to get a virus with file sharing.
