I know nobody will probably have an answer for this but does anybody know how to make a picture fad to transparent or fade into and underneath layer using a gradient in Photoshop elements? It seems my version doesn't let you put a mask up easily, and the only way I found to do it was pretty roundabout.

if you create a new layer over the picture you want to fade and make it completely white. then on your new layer press CTRL+ALT+G, That makes a clipping mask.

And then you just "paint" with the color black on the things you want to be faded.

White = Original picture

Black= Eraser.

I hope it made a little sense,

Oh, use the brush on the clipping mask and not the picture itself.

Thanks, but luckily I found a workaround that let me use a gradient after all.
