Actually, Oriental simply means she is from the Orient - which her background is. It's just that the term Oriental got a bad name. Which is, to me, unfortunate. For it is far more accurate then to say what most people use today - Asian.
Asia is one HUGE place. Technically someone from Pakistan or Israel or Jordan or Eastern Russia is Asian. But you would never call an east Indian an Asian. Even though that is exactly what they are.

No. For me someone from Japan or China or Indonesia is Oriental (which I think sounds charming but many people - especially non-orientals - get in a huff when I use so I don't very often) or East Asian.
East Asian, to me, is a far more accurate description of these persons geographical heritage.
