win the war, elimate threats, collect debts, let rich politicians get thier own health insurance, no more free money for those who refuse to work, don't pay more to the U.N until they cough up some dough.
What exactly is there to disagree with?
calpoon, you really think its bushes fault the economy is bad?
Although yes, at this point it appears the iraq liberation attempt was a waste.
ok. i'll take this on a point by point basis. I agree with not paying the UN and politicians. it only seems fair to me that politicians should be getting paid minimum wage for their duties.
as far as the first three go, they sound like a good idea, but how are we supposed to get them done? let's add onto it world peace, feed the starving and cure cancer. wishful thinking is nice, but practicality is better.
I also agree that "those who refuse to work" shouldn't get a free handout... but that sort of complicates things when you need to really factor who that applies to. most of the people that aren't working are not doing so because they don't want to. I'd say more importantly would be to create jobs for all the unemployed people that do want to work and can't get it, and that will solve the problem a lot more.
I also believe in "hands off" by the government, but it goes both ways. I would rather see the government not take peoples money and leave it up to the citizens to provide their own means. but you have to look at the reality, if they are going to take our money, which they do anyway, then they might as well spend it on social programs and things that benefit the citizens. You can't really complain about one without the other, IMO. all those Ideas that ted had would require the government taxing the citizens more to pay for them, so it's really just a matter of disagreeing over how the money should be spent.
As for Bush on the economy, you said it yourself. I think the hundreds of billions spent on Iraq was a huge factor in wasteful spending that hurt the economy. While he may not deserve sole responsibility for anything, in a sense he choose to do so by being the president. that's what the president is, he's the representative of the government and most especially of his administration. they also aren't necessarily responsible for all of the bad market decisions that have happened to lead to the recession, but they are responsible for the way that they dealt with them that has continued to spread the problem and not fixing it, including the Bailout plan.
