De'Toqueville warned about lawyers taking over the American system in the 18th century on his visit to the US... I'm afraid he was right. Equal protection and justice under the law is just about the ONLY "equality" we as citizens are guaranteed by the Constitution, and unfortunately that is now an illusion due to the influence of politics and money. :2 cents:

Dude you really need to list a lot more info when starting such a thread especially if you want a lot of responses, try to link some articles and at least display full names! I assume you dutch and are referring to Joran Van Der Sloot, Casey Anthony, Lindsay Lohan and OJ Simpson? I would say Lohan as OJ was legally aquitted (but the courts got him for something else) and Anthony and Van Der Sloot are still awaiting trial whilst Lohan is treated way too leniently like most celebs or the rich often are. Here are some of the most extreme examples of the punishment not matching the crime:

And in a lot of cases, that's true. If you can pay the best lawyer, or bribe your way out of jail (same thing), justice will not be served.
That why it's in the interest of those without power, to always remain vigilant and determined to see that those with power, wield it justly.

At the very least. I watched a story about her a few years ago. As much as people in the U.S. are upset about the O.J. Simpson case, they need to learn more about that woman. She makes O.J. look like a boyscout! She assisted in the rape and murder of her own sister, as well as many other women... and she's free as a bird today.
