Wow! Surprised on this poll! Phil jumped the shark after the original Genesis broke up. I will give a good album rating to Face Value though. I agree some of later albums by Sting were a little to corny soft eclectic rock, but Dream of the blue turtles and the soul cages are better than some of Phill's later stuff. But Phill has a renaissance going like Hall & Oates does now.
I've definitely got to go with Phil Collins on this one. His music was better AND he has a gorgeous daughter!

Phil Collins is the better allround musician.
Wow, I'm amazed by this. I think that Sting is the far, far superior musician of the two, and I'd like to see the reasoning anyone has for saying otherwise. His music is also quite a bit more complex, with compound rhythms and expressive key modulations...

I wonder if you've heard much Genesis - aside the commercially popular radio songs from the 80's. Listen to their music from the 70's when they were a 5-piece progressive rock band, which really beats anything they did in the 80's. I agree that The Police were awesome too, but to sell Genesis short would be foolish.
