Just on the legality question, check out this thread on the Cambria List:

And if you get a chance, try to catch the CNBC special called The Business of Porn (I believe). I had it on Tivo and there were a lot of things on the show that I didn't know. When it comes to legality, it seems like most porn in the U.S. (especially post-Meese Commission) is like going 70mph in a 65 zone. Whether or not you get prosecuted has a lot to do with where you live, and how many other people are out there with you also going 70. But just because you don't see too many people getting tickets for going 70 in a 65, that doesn't mean that it's legal to go 70 in a 65.
Kind of like the Paul Little (Max Hardcore) case, porn seems to suffer a lot from selective prosecution. But I guess Paul was going 80 in a 65. :dunno: Me, I live in a very conservative area. A meth lab got busted in my county a few months ago. Some porn DVD's were found during the search. In addition to drug charges, the cops charged the people in the house with possession of indecent/obscene material. I asked a cop friend of mine if they had kiddie porn or snuff films or something like that. Nope, just "regular" porn. So my local obscenity standards are obviously very different from the ones in L.A., Phoenix or Vegas.
It seems like it mainly comes down to your local standards.
