Sports Athletes Apologies

Inspired by Pete Rose signing balls with "I'm sorry I bet on baseball," here are some apologies Maxim would like to see signed by other athletes.

Empty BS, they only do that apology crap when everything else fails them.

Like killers who "found God"...

I guess God didn't see them first !!

"sorry for wearing the stupid costume and getting beat up" or something like that LOL

My favorite sports excuse of all time when somebody said they were sorry for testing for steroids because they accidentally sat on a needle somebody left behind.

One of my favorite sports excuses (as in my favorite way of getting irritated, by reading these reports) is when a perenially losing team (I'd be lyin, if I said I didn't mean any one in particular) attributes its inability to establish the running game and to protect the passer due to the fact that the offensive line has yet to "jell," and also that at present, they lack "chemistry.":bs:  Fine journalism in action, my friends.

No "jelly," and no "chemistry," but by god, that drool will go on season after season without rest even as the team threatens to re-locate unless a tax-payer funded stadium is built for these over-paid (and chronically "fluid") home ec majors.

 :ban:

Did you ever think of what power repentence has?
Yes, it can't bring back what someone did, but it can change someone (for the much better).

It's the truth. God bless some Christians who do it out of the hearts without any need to repent. But some of the most devoted Chrisitans are just those trying to atone for their past sins. As much as you might focus on what they did first, understand their is a larger reason that they be allowed to repent and change themselves.

It's actually a very good thing. They can't change the past, only the future. Respect it. If anything, it's far deeper of a devotion than athletes and celebrities who play the cycle of immaturity/irresponsibility then spokesperson then back to it later. Those athletes/celebrities actually do not repent at all, hence why they never learn.

And for those that think this is a religious post, please understand I'm only trying to explain what others do and why, not that I necessarily believe/agree/promote/whatever. That's often what I do in most of my posts, especially when most disagree and try to call me whatever they disagree with. I'm just trying to explain instead of "judge."

Now everytime some Christian comes sharing their faith, I tell them the honest truth:
I'm sorry, but I don't have some overriding repenting to do, I've been extremely responsible and charitable my whole life. In fact, I focus on charity than what I should or should not have done or believed or whatever, because my views on the world have been pretty concrete since I was 16.

That's assuming you think they are serious and truly sorry instead of assuming they are just doing it from a public relations standpoint to get sympathy for themselves. Plus when somebody does something to loose others trust and respect, words aren't enough to get those back. They have to earn it back through hard work and dedicating themselves to doing what's right. Just saying your sorry doesn't work. They have to truly be sorry, work hard to never do anything like that again, and make restitution for their past misdeeds. If they do that then over time maybe people can accept the apologies they give.

Hey dude, you opened the door. Again, don't just quote my first few statements or try to believe I'm being absolute. Re-read my response again:

Killers "find God," as do many other people who have serious things to repent about. Some of the most devoted and charitable born-again Christians are very driven because of their past. Not all. Not a majority even. But they are significant.

Which is why I said don't compare simple sports/celebrity apologies who often go right back to doing it because they really don't care to those people who have a major sin or set of sins on their back that drive them to serve good every day until they die.
