Spike Lee's Latest Picture: Oldboy

The trailer Oldboy 2013 (Spike Lee's version) looks good although many have criticized similarities to Park Chan-wook's original picture. I'm sure there will be a few differences in the American version yet i'm hoping Oldboy will be a good film overall. Josh Brolin looks quite convincing as the main character Joe Doucett.

When I first saw the poster, I thought it was Jim Carrey.

I still refuse to watch "The Girl With The- Dragon -Tattoo" with Daniel Craig and Mara Spumoni or something.
It's a Swedish novel trilogy, and the 3 Swedish films are so GOOD there was no reason to bland a great cast and script down for lamer Western audiences, who can't seem to read well enough to watch with subtitles.
They dubbed the 3 Swede flicks, but that is lamer than the remake.

The Spike Lee I know is such a constant racist there will have to be some form of Whitey treating poor Blackie in a mean way, so I will wait for many reviews before seeing the movie.
I have yet to see a remake recently as good as the remade original.

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
Spike Lee is a useless waste of space...he should have listened to Clint Eastwood, and just shut the fuck up. I can't name ONE SINGLE movie of his, that I would want to watch.

So here's a question, what about Roman Polanski, would you watch any on his movies?

The reason I ask is because I'm pretty sure that people don't like Spike Lee for either things that he's said,or just the flat out racist fact that they don't want to see movies with an all black cast.Neither are reasons to not want to see his movies.

Now as for Roman Polanski. That shitbag ***** an ******** girl, gets busted and flees the country to France where there are no extradition laws, keeps making movies and is pretty much forgiven by Hollywood for some unspeakable reason.

Yeah,Spike Lee isn't so bad when you start to put things into the proper perspective.

I'm a HUGE fan on the original, and I'm very cautious about this one,but also very curious too.I want to see if Spike, and or the studio has the balls to actually go where the original went, which probably won't be accepted too well by American audiences that haven't seen the original and don't fully know what to expect.

I wouldn't use a Roman Polanski film, to knock Spike Lee ***********. The fact that this country hasn't gotten him back here to stand trial, is pathetic. But lets be clear, I say what I say, NOT because both are shitbags, of humanity, but because their movies just plane suck. The other stuff, is just the sprinkles on the turd.

What movie directors (or any other artist) do in their private life is completely irrelevant to me. The only thing that matters is how good their movies are. Roman Polanski is a brilliant director (or at least he was forty years ago). I can´t say i´m a big fan of Spike Lee´s movies (other than Inside Man, which was great).

Just so I'm clear, you have or haven't way haven't watched any of Spike Lee's movies? If you have and just don't like them, fine,I get that. Hell I feel the same way about David Lynch. If you haven't seen his movies and are just using your prejudice of what you've seen or heard of him in the media, well that's just fucking ignorant and your opinion this has no validity.

I would agree to a certain extent. What *********** say shouldn't have much value in regards to if they are good entertainers, but I will not help put money into the pockets of *********,rapists,or anyone that commits egregious crimes against other people, but that's just me.

I always had a strong resentment for Ellia Kazan. I don't like him or his movies and he ratted on a lot of ppl in Hollywood during the HUAC days. Before he died he mentioned he still had no regrets ******* those out of work. Terrible.

One or two. They sucked. Honestly, his reputation probably didn't help me like it, but it sure as fuck wasn't Spielberg, or Terantino. Whenever I see that graphic that says. "A spike Lee Joint". I change the channel, without hesitation. As far as Polanski goes, never saw a single frame of his work, and I'm sorry his wife and baby were ******** ********...but he's a kiddie diddler, and I need no other reason to dislike him, and not support, or acknowledge his work

Ok,I can accept that.Honestly,Malcolm X was Lee's best movie by a long shot, and is well worth a watch.I actually watched Polanski's movie The Pianist, which was a great, but fucking depressing as hell movie.Only watched it because my boss lent it to me.I will never again watch another one of his movies though.

I think Malcolm X is Lee's best film too. The last Roman Polanski picture I watched was The Ghost Writer. It's actually not a bad movie.

I don't know about this one. I loved the original so this one would have to really hit all the marks for me to be impressed. South Korea makes some crazy films and I dig that they don't always have a happy ending.
