Thank you for that link. So this is a step towards divestitures. This is totally against my free market economy thinking of "don't limit my growth", but I come from the time of Ma Bell. For nearly 100 years, Bell Telephone was the only way to communicate by voice outside of yelling out of your window. They ran the lines connecting people, cities, and continents. Technology was developed, patented, and brought into service. Roll on. It all worked and could be brought into every home. The breakup of Bell was the fact that only their equipment could be used for their services. For all of that time, their equipment was rented to consumers. They provided everything including the phone itself. You break a phone and you call Ma to get a replacement at no cost. A second phone in the house could only be provided by them with their wiring and phone.
That was total monopoly and needed to be broken up. This isn't the same condition. Sure these ISPs are huge, but the technology keeps growing and there is a measure of competition. Not in all areas but I believe that will come. Remember that we are not bound by wires anymore.
