So much for liberty. The FCC passes massive government internet regulation.

Conspiracy...
I feel your pin, brother. Myself keeps falling into trying to explain the most basic shit to the cupcake... I love him, but it is no use. Talk to him about Wrestling, there is a point in doing that. Must be his bright spot

:nono:

All I said is they better keep the net free and open.

At this time listening to NPR's "On The Media on Net Neutrality they did the first 40 minutes on. Net Neutrality they are reporting will open up competition and lower prices.

Sounds like the free market to me from FCC and The FEDS control.

Podcast should be here at the top of the hour: http://www.onthemedia.org/

Thank you for that link. So this is a step towards divestitures. This is totally against my free market economy thinking of "don't limit my growth", but I come from the time of Ma Bell. For nearly 100 years, Bell Telephone was the only way to communicate by voice outside of yelling out of your window. They ran the lines connecting people, cities, and continents. Technology was developed, patented, and brought into service. Roll on. It all worked and could be brought into every home. The breakup of Bell was the fact that only their equipment could be used for their services. For all of that time, their equipment was rented to consumers. They provided everything including the phone itself. You break a phone and you call Ma to get a replacement at no cost. A second phone in the house could only be provided by them with their wiring and phone.

That was total monopoly and needed to be broken up. This isn't the same condition. Sure these ISPs are huge, but the technology keeps growing and there is a measure of competition. Not in all areas but I believe that will come. Remember that we are not bound by wires anymore.

So, at what measure should a company be broken up?

This is why I love what Google Fiber is doing. They're expanding to more cities and they're putting pressure on the likes of AT&T and Comcast to up their services. Just recently AT&T announced that they're going to match Google Fiber's speed and pricing in KC.
