So Meg Whitman just flushed $160mil down the toilet...sigh.

What could she have done with that $160million instead of merely fulfilling a narcissistic need to become a christ-like figure, and, in the end, all she has is a bruised ego and embarrassment for the history books.

-She could've created 2000 white collar engineer or management jobs @ $80,000 a job for a year.

-She could've written 160 $1 million dollar checks and given them to small businesses in the state. How many jobs would those small businesses create? I just spent the last six months being told by Republicans that small businesses are the key to the economy/job creation. Well, maybe she could've put her money where her mouth was?

-She could've had a bonfire every month and burned $1million dollars on her front lawn and gave passerbys the :thefinger Do you know how many YEARS she could've burned $1million a month on her lawn? It would take her well over ten years to burn $160mil....

What other ways could she have spent $160mill.....?

She could have significanly outbid someone on ebay for some random celebrity's used TP.

Christ!! With that much money she could have campaigned and won some sort of high position of power in the state of California...Oh wait...

What a failure, I can't believe a person can blow that much and not win... On a side note, Linda McMahon is also believed to have spent about $145 million
Well, I guess these are small beacons of hope that show us that money really can't buy power.. in a few isolated cases, at least.

So could Alex Rodriguez. I don't see the outrage.

It wasn't a total loss. The money she spent will stimulate the economy by helping people in jobs like printing companies, television stations, etc.

Yep all the corporate bitches who thought they could buy an election lost (Whitman,McMahon,Fiorina) and its a good thing.:)

Why save the world, when you can rule it?

THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So what can you do with $160 million dollars? You could build hospitals/invest in health and the investment in health will keep the workers healthier - therefore more productive and will ultimately benefit the economy to a tune much greater than $160 mill.

You can give american soldiers lightweight body armour which protects their sides as well as their fronts and backs!
And guess what? That's not just the right thing to do; that's an investment! Keep a rookie alive and you end up with a veteran. Hell, todays young rookie could even be tomorrows S.O.G. trooper who actually manages to get Bin Laden or sits outside a chinese airfield with a 20mm rifle and shatters Pak Fa turbine blades in order to ground their air force and gain air supremacy (there's no way F35 can gain air supremacy). Well, you could if the us military were smart enough to invest in a 20MM anti-material rifle  but you get my point.

You could build schools and the investment would be that america could stop relying on importing foreign scientists.

You could also do a whole lot more, but I figure 3 points is enough.

I can think of some more.

She could have given approximately anywhere from about 6,000 to 15,000 students a total free ride grant for an entire year of higher education.

She could have packed every food pantry for the poor in the state multiple times.

She could have created about 8,000 new jobs for a working class person, and made a sustainable business out of those workers.

She could have built about 1,000 new homes for some group like Habitat for Humanity.

She probably could have fixed most of the worn down roads in her state. (I'm not completely sure about how much it could cost for a state as large as California though.)

She could have keep thousands of teachers from getting laid off.

She could have furbished hundreds of electric generating wind mills or put thousands of solar collecting electricity generating panels on people homes.

She could have provided a small, private college an endowment that would allow their professors to take more frequent sabbaticals for the purposes of publishing relevant research, thus putting the college in the forefront of contemporary research. This, in turn would draw better students, which ultimately draws better professors, which brings greater money from grants and other sources.

But what do I know?

Oh..oh oh..I got one...

We're suppose to trust her with California's money as Gov..when she can't even spend her own money wisely?:1orglaugh

This proves that wannabe Conservatives can't manage their own money yet Genericons want us to trust them to manage our taxes efficiently and wisely

That's because you missed the point. Arod isn't a billionaire. If he gave away roughly 10% of his contract, it would be, what, $20mil? That's almost two $12mil lawn burns for ol' Meg Whitman...

But what do I know?

She could've created the Meg Whitman Entrepreneur College and made it be a program established at every CSU and UC ...

Why would a Republican want to do something for the greater good of everybody?

:flame: You're right!! :weeping:

Here's Meg Whitman putting her foot in her mouth when she touts how great California was 30 years ago...

FYI to Meg Whitman: 30 years ago Jerry Brown was Governor of California that you are nostalgic about

So you're upset that a billionaire spent her money? This is supposed to outrage me more than say, the money Democrats and Republicans spent on campaigning either from their respective parties or special interests? I'll say it again, I don't see the outrage.
