Early in the US' movie industry, nudity and even sexually explicit motion picture was filmed. It was quickly stomped on. In fact, it's part of the reason why the US leadership started going after various people in Hollywood well before the communist witch hunts. It provided some of the "lack of morals" basis for the dislike that would haunt Hollywood from the '30s to as late as even the '70s. It wasn't until home video became commodity in the '70s that the industry really got its "freedom" in the US.

Going the other way, it's kinda sad that the single industry that is responsible for securing many of our freedoms is not only so irresponsible today they are abusing them to the point of disregard, but the new "digital media" is being used to completely erase basic, individual rights in the name of profits.
