Skinny Girls, for all you chubby girl haters out there!!!!

Agreed. I think people of all sizes look great, whether they're 100 pounds, 120 pounds, 200 pounds, whatever. I just think it's the extremes that aren't good, so if you're an obese 600 pound slob or a bone thin 60 pound stick, something is definitely not right.

Yeah, I'm with you on that. It just sucks when beautiful women who are rightfully proud and confident of their bodies end up calling down other body types in the process. ie: "REAL women have curves!" It ends up conveying a bad message about females in general. One of my favorite body types is the curvy hourglass figure, but I don't think I'm any less of a woman just because that's not what I look like. As far as I'm concerned a "real woman" is one who doesn't put down other women, no matter what shape or size we are. Variety is the spice of life, how boring would it be if we all looked the same? Anyway I'm going off on a tangent, it was the title of this thread that got me going... lol.

But yes, being as frighteningly thin as the women featured in Roald's delightful post or excessively obese is dangerously unhealthy no matter how you look at it. Aside from those extremes, anything from petite to BBW and everything in between is beautiful in my book!

agree with all of ya, i **** seeing gorgeous women destroying themselves for some stupid things, every woman is beautiful in the way she is, it's more than just the physical look.

I'm glad there is A LOT of space between those and "chubby"! :)

Since the face is the most important part of a girl for me, I don't care THAT much about her weight. As long as she looks healthy either way. Too thin like that doesn't look healthy and too fat doesn't either.

we don't enjoy harming the girls, we don't want them to suffer, all we want is a good time in a good way.

Oh my, that website is terrifying.

Um, it reminds me of how glad I was when tumblr officially made pro-anorexia/ "Pro ana" blogs against their TOS. there was a lot of that kind of stuff floating around tumblr for a while and now most of it's gone or really hard to find.

Nobody, least of all young women, needs to be seeing that stuff. I wish Roald hadn't posted a link to that site... made me want to *****. :******:

Why do some people have so much difficulty embracing a certain body type without bashing another?

Because people in general are insanely stupid. Also they're insecure and thus want validation and there's little that provides as much validation as being "right." Think about it, when you were taught to read, and you got the word right, weren't your parents just ever so happy with you? Weren't you rewarded with smiles and praise? It's practically bred into our bones.

As such often if someone thinks something is the best thing ever than you'd better think it too. If you don't, if maybe you prefer something else, it's a threat to them being right. Suddenly they don't feel that validation. Your disagreeing isn't just opinion, it's a personal ******. As such not only must they prop up that which they adore, they must also deride and discredit that which they view as competition.

Go look at any sort of gathering for fans of anything, and more often than not you'll see a tonne of outspoken assholes lecturing you about what they ****, and usually spending much more time doing that than discussing the actual reason for the fan gathering. Shouldn't be hard to do on the Internet, just head to a fan site. Go to the board of a reasonably popular actress on IMDb and you'll see endless threads about how other actresses are **** and/or ugly. Go to any board dedicated to video games and you'll see Playstation fans talking about how **** Xbox is, and Xbox fans talking about how **** Playstation is. Go to a website for Stephen King fans and look at the threads bashing Dean Koontz, and vice versa.

To these people it's all a competition where they have the chance to win absolutely nothing but the ability to look like the bigger asshole, and to them it's the ultimate prize.

This thread really hit home for me. I haven't ever talked about this on here but my ****** is anorexic and about 7 years ago she almost died. She was hospitalized for 3 months and her lowest weight was 58 pounds. I am not exaggerating. She lost her hair, her muscles atrophied and she could barely even move her head. They said she probably wouldn't ever walk again but she proved them wrong. I sat by her side in physical therapy while she used a walker like an old lady..she was 24. Once she was more stable..it took 3 months..she went to an inpatient recovery program. It was her third time at this program, she has suffered from eating disorders since she was 15. She was there for about 4 months. Today, she is better but still way too thin and it's hard to tell how skinny b/c she always wears big t-shirts and you can't really tell. But when I hug her, I feel every vertebrae. She eats the same thing every day and won't eat in restaurants so we never have any ****** dinners out. It's very sad and frustrating.

they gonna die if they continue like that!
i prefer a chubby woman, rather than anorexic

Maggie, thanks for sharing the story about your ******, yes sad. It certainly gives needed perspective towards that link, with those women seemingly in the same mindset and on the same path.

Today, she is better but still way too thin ... She eats the same thing every day ... It's very sad and frustrating.

I hope your ****** will continue on her road to recovery and being healthy through you and your families love and support, but most of all her own desire and mindset.
