show off your tattoos

i got a new one just now (about 2 hours ago), and that gave me the idea to start a thread about tats... not tits. although tats on tits are ok, too.

i could have named this thread "tattoos, body art, ink on skin, tattoos only, etc" but i didn't. BUT, if you wanna show off different body art (piercings maybe), don't hold back. i know that for some of you this sounds like an invitation to post pictures of the most horribly disfigured genitalia you can find on the internet (or in blueballs' family album), but wtv... i like entertaining threads.

so here's a pic of mine, freshly inked:

Tattooing is a fashion.
As my Dad said, fashion is doing stupid things just because other people do them.
Don't people with tattoos realise how foolish they look?

Just because they look foolish to you doesn't mean they look foolish to everyone.

I think well thought out and meaningful tattoos are nice. Ones that aren't fully colored are even better...

Nice tattoo by the way, Namreg

I'll be sure to revisit this thread when I finally get my first, I've been planning on it for over 10 years now haha.

very nice, freq, rep to you.

as to the guy who said tattoos are foolish: it all depends on why you do it. i did it for myself, not to look fashionable or because my friends have them (only two of them do).

If I actually made any real money I might consider getting one... but until then I guess I will have to power through and do without.

Tattooing is a pretty ancient ritual my friend, hardly a fashion in the deep philosophical root of getting ink. Lately it's become more prominent because it's becoming less taboo. The innocence of pre-world war America is over; the realization that we can and will do what we want in life has emerged. Don't people who think like you realize how foolish their train of thought can be to others?

That said, I have three pencil thin lines banded around my left forearm and on the underside of my left bicep it read "Ne te quaesiveris extra". It is an ancient Latin quotation preceding the essay 'Self-Reliance' by Ralph Waldo Emerson, and translates to "Do not look outside of yourself for the truth".

Well I personally never wanted a tattoo. I thought about it a few times but then I always think about when I'm old... just ruins the idea. I have seen alot of intresting tattoos and quite a few horrible ones. Anyways I don't have any tattoos.
