Should there just be a "Mass shooting in the US" sticky thread?

The Springs is a very conservative area. They certainly would appreciate vigilante justice.

According to this article, the lgbt community is taking a lot of shit in that area.
The Springs is the opposite of Boulder. Focus on the Family is based there.

They don’t like ‘red flag’ laws either. El Paso County declared themselves a ‘Second Amendment Sanctuary’ in 2019. Law enforcement was not inclined to step into the matter.

Mom was is in denial - calling the local paper to remove or update a story about the bomb threat. She does not appear to have been inclined to pursue anything further (other than posting online requests for a referral).

It is still early in the investigation so plenty more will become known.

Here's a little more about one of the men who acted above and beyond.
The fucker was lucky Fierro was a disciplined veteran who could keep his emotions in check & has a respect for the law.

"I kept whaling on [hitting] him. I'm a big dude and this guy was bigger," Mr Fierro said.
He told reporters that he urged a drag performer to kick the attacker in the head.
"One of the performers was walking by and I told her kick him," he said. "And she took her high heel and stuffed it in his face."
Now that's more like it.

I realize that these kind of mass shootings are basically a rounding error in terms of gun deaths in this country but I would say this is getting out of hand.

On the bright side, this event is not the deadliest mass shooting to have occurred at a Wal-Mart in this country. The 2019 El Paso shooting took place at a Wal-Mart and had 23 fatalities.

Lastly, just to keep things from getting too heavy:

Interesting twist with the suspect...

Colorado Springs suspect identifies as nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns, defense lawyer says

As much as I want to sympathize with him, once you go on a killing spree of totally random innocents, I don't give a fuck about your past.
Now if all this were true about the father and he went out and just murdered his father, that would warrant some compassion. But that's not what happened.

The pronoun switch seems strategic.

Dad is a real winner.
"They started telling me about the incident, a shooting involving multiple people,” Brink said Tuesday in an interview outside his San Diego home with CBS 8. “And then I go on to find out it’s a gay bar. I said, ‘God, is he gay?’ I got scared, ‘Shit, is he gay?’ And he’s not gay, so I said, ‘Phhhewww…’”

He's good with murdering people, but not being gay.
"I praised [Aldrich] for violent behavior really early. I told him it works. It is instant and you’ll get immediate results.”

And nice job by Major Fierro too. Aldrich did not look well. I hope he's in some pain.

The four dead in Idaho situation is a little weird. They know a lot more then they're letting on. They have to, so whomever did it, isn't tipped off. But something id definitely going on. Hell, it could be a serial killer, and the police never said anything about other bodies.

Murderer in 2021: “You guys [his grandparents] die today and I’m taking you with me … I’m loaded and ready.”

Again, the gun did not kill anyone. The apathy of family and law enforcement allowed this happen. Collective shoulder shrugs from all involved. If society believes owning military-grade equipment is a right, then the laws surrounding ownership and possession need to be strengthened.

Masa shootings only account for a fraction of gun deaths, but when does that number become meaningful?
