Colorado passed red flag laws a few years back. Members of a certain party took offense and declared their counties 'second amendment sanctuaries'. One sheriff who committed to enforcing the law was condemned by his own party.

The issue is we only see red flags in retrospect. If the flags are enforced prospectively, then plenty of gun advocates get offended and start screaming about their rights being infringed.

I know, my State is a 2nd Amendment sanctuary state. I think that it's ridicules that you would want to worry about the rights of a criminal, or potential criminal. If you're posting shit talk on social media, you've put it out there, it's not like they usurped HIPPA laws. I have said on here, I don't think my rights should be a question, because of others stupidity, and I will always believe that, but when you say stupid shit, you tend to get, what you deserve, much like you hopefully get what you deserve when you break the law. I have also stated I wouldn't have a problem with a waiting period for certain firearms, so although you may not believe it's enough, you obviously know I don't want dumb shit like this to happen, I just think instead of immediately putting blame on the gun, and blaming an inanimate object, should not be the first effort to fix the problem. Let's face it, the government thinks nothing of intruding on rights, in the name of national security, or terrorism, so pass a law, that shit talkers get that red flag sent directly to where it should go. I know it's been brought up before, but things like this always seem to happen in states with stricter laws, or "no gun zones", in states that are more 2nd Amnd. friendly.

A little update...

Seemed the attack was against a Taiwanese Congregation at a Church in Laguna Hills (Orange County) at Geneva Presbyterian Church. One person dead(RIP) with four others critically wounded. The attacker was described as an Asian man in his 60s. Many of the church attendees were extremely brave as they were able to subdue and hogtie the gunman until the authorities arrived and put him in custody.

Well he bought it legally, and he illegally modified it, It seems like New York may have dropped the ball. He had made threats, that triggered red flags. I'm sure they will find no fault on there own part, but it certainly proves laws don't mean a damn thing to criminals. I don't imagine it would be hard to get one in Buffalo, even if they were completely banned.

I just put this here, because. well, California has very strict gun laws, and lookie here what we have. At least they caught this asshole, and if he's a citizen, he should be in a prison yard 15 hours a day, with a steel ball, and chain, and a sledge hammer, to make big ones, into little ones. If he's here illegally, he should sent back, via catapult, OR, have his trigger fingers chopped off, and a tattoo across his forehead that reads "no admittance to the U.S.A. permitted".

I watched the video. Holy Shit. He was tactical. Those shoppers didn't stand a chance. At one point as he's moving around the front registers he comes upon a white guy who's down on the floor. The man screams and the shooter replies "sorry" and he keeps moving. He was obviously targeting black people.

I didn't watch the video, I know a lot of people around here disagree with me, and my opinions, but believe it or not, it doesn't do much for me, and shit like this bothers me when it happens. I don't know what caused this guys brain to stroke out like it did, but he would have done something, somewhere, if it wasn't this, and being disarmed would not have stopped him. From the little bit of info out so far, I personally think, if he had to use a car, to run down a crowd, he would have. He wanted a body count, and he wanted it known, he did it because of hatred for a race.

He believes this guy hated black people, because black males, have sex with white females, for pornographic type literature. Although it has happened, remember Larry Flynt? It was said that the guy that put him in a wheelchair, did so because Flynt published an interracial photo spread. Of course that was long ago, and I really don't think this guy killed everyday people, because of that. If he singled out one individual, I could see it as a valid possibility.

Take a page out of trump's playbook and go nuclear, the way he went against Muslims, refugees and literally anyone who went against him.
Say outright "I don't give a shit if I lose the vote of every NRA member or gun owner in the country for the next 10 elections, I'm going to fuck with the system so much that no one will be able to blame US gun laws if this happens again".

Honestly, I don't know if executive orders can be used, maybe some form of martial law, or literally any option available to him. I'm being pragmatic in realizing whatever he does could very well be overturned by SCOTUS. But at least he'll put the gun lobby on notice, and be in a position to say that he actually backed up his words with action, and did everything he could as POTUS about the issue. As it stands, GOP is in bed with the gun lobby and the dems are too pussy to stand up to them, so we really don't know if POTUS can actually do something about it. But I'd like to see a pres have the balls to at least try.
