Should there just be a "Mass shooting in the US" sticky thread?

State bill would designate some gun owners as law enforcement (msn.com)

Two bills in the state assembly and state senate, HB 254 and SB 2523, would amend Tennessee law and designate "a person who has been issued an enhanced handgun carry permit" as a member of law enforcement.

"As introduced, expands the definition of 'law enforcement officer' to include a person who has been issued an enhanced handgun carry permit; provided, that the permit is not suspended, revoked, or expired, for purposes of authority to carry a firearm under certain circumstances," the summary for the bill reads on the Tennessee General Assembly website.

Gee, what could possibly go wrong?

Yeah, I can't get on board with that. Enhanced, doesn't translate to educated, or experienced. Now, if they want to take certain holders of these permits, and offer them an opportunity to take criminal justice classes at a local collage, that would work for me. But just to say, "Hey, I've gone to extra training classes", isn't good enough. In fact what they may mean by "enhanced", is what some would consider, tactical combat training. House clearing, and things like that. I also can't see letting someone like that go out without an experienced partner. Ohio is bouncing around a bill making it legal to just carry without a permit or training, and I can't get on board with that either. They also want to do away with the requirement of informing law enforcement you're packing, when pulled over. I personally think that anyone carrying should need to go through the training, and inform police when approached, I can get on board with no permit, that carries about a $70 charge. Substitute the $700 permit, for a signed card from the trainer, or local sheriff's office, I can get over the finger printing, and picture portion, and especially the cost, but not the training.

Yup. Until ALL men EVERYWHERE are allowed to have sex with ALL and ANY Porn actress for free of charge, these shootings will continue.

So OF COURSE the answer is YES

That should be $70 dollars. Sorry.

By the way; the US doesn't even Crack the top ten in mass shootings. Norway, Serbia and France top the list.. The difference is narrative in the media.

I would think even you would admit "Being better than France doesn't give you bragging rights."

Average (Mean) Annual Death Rate per Million People from Mass Public Shootings (U.S., Canada, and Europe, 2009-2015):

We’re not even top 10 anymore? God Dammit! Those lazy fucks in Chicago, St Louis, Baltimore, Detroit, Memphis, Atlanta, LA, and NYC better get off their shiftless asses and bring home some National Pride. If not then they gotta get a job.

The above statistics reference mass shootings. We are still very much #1 in terms of overall gun deaths.

Now, now, let's not get to prideful.

We trail Brazil in overall gun deaths and Greenland in gun suicides (per capita):

Speaking about where the media should focus:
Many people understandably assume the high number of gun deaths in the U.S. is due to mass shootings, which receive frequent attention from the media. In truth, mass shootings account for only a small percentage of gun deaths in the United States. Rather, nearly two-thirds (63%) of gun deaths in the US in 2019 were suicides.

Dandrae Martin, 26, was identified as a "related suspect" in the shooting, which broke out on K Street in downtown Sacramento early Sunday morning just after a fight took place, the Sacramento Police Department said. Martin was arrested on assault and illegal firearm possession charges, police said.

A slap on the wrist, a meaningless chewing out, and they'll be back out, and rearmed, but for some reason, I should have to jump through a hoop to defend myself, and own a firearm.. It sickens me that people can't see, if they want to end gun violence, then they need to either execute trash like these two, or lock them in a labor camp for life, breaking big ones, into little ones, with a ball and chain attached to their leg.

These 2 animals are the reason guns should be MANDATORY to own, and every law abiding citizen, should get one free firearm for the house, paid for, out of any funds used to help criminals. I wish they could pull them out on the courthouse steps and put them on there knees, so they can be publically terminated when found guilty, and they should use the criminals own gun to put him down.

I would gladly mail you my freebee. What could go wrong with everyone having a gun?

This shooting was ‘downtown’ at 4 am between some gangbangers - at least 5 people were firing away. I would fully expect more of this type of violence if everyone was armed.

Imagine how many domestic violence situations would escalate. Or road rage? Or neighborhood disputes?

Not everyone is equipped to be handling such deadly force. I am happy you can have yours and would not interfere with your right to have them.
