Should I get a Xbox 360 or PS3?

I'm just a sports gamer kind of guy and looking to play only NHL 2010 and maybe Madden too. As for which system, I cant decide. I'm leaning towards a PS3 only because I've always been comfortable with the playstation controller. Problem is, all my friends have xbox 360 and I would like to play them online, but the 360 controller annoys me.

Having had both, (I have a PS3 now after selling my XBOX 360) I would say PS3 is better and more advanced. Also, with an XBOX it's inevitable you will get red ring of death because I had it and all my friends with XBOXs had it too.

That said, Microsoft have been buying up some good exclusives so they've got that going for them.

The problem with getting a 360 is that you have to pay for the Gold membership on Xbox Live, as well as a wireless adapter if you cannot connect your 360 to the internet with a cable. The PS3 comes out of the box ready to connect to the internet, and so far I haven't had to pay a cent to play a game online. If you do buy a PS3, make sure it is an old one that has backwards capability.

That said, if all your friends have online, and you want to play them, I find that Xbox Live is overall the better service than the Playstation Network. Really, it comes down to personal preference. Either one is a good system. Personally, I use my Xbox 360 more than my PS3, but the only sports game I actively play is NHL 10 on the 360.

The Red Ring of Death is definetly tragic; I suffered one last month. However, I sent it away for free and I got my system back within two weeks with a complementary couple of months on Xbox Live.

360 are for gamers, with far more games to choose from. Xbox live is far soppier to what the Ps3 has.

Get a PS3 if you are a cheap ass that wants a free blue ray player.

I've only had a 360, though I want a PS3. The good thing about the 360 is the excusive games such as Fable, Dead Rising, Gears of War etc. The bad thing is you'll probably experience the red ring of death within 2 years. I am currently on my 3rd 360 because I had to have the first two replaced.

PS3. No RROD and you don't have to spend $100 for the wireless internet thing for it. If your mainly playing sports games then this is the system to go for as both have the same games but one comes with less problems.

Really, if you're only interested in those games, there's not much difference between the two systems, practically speaking. The real question is if you want to play with your friends on X-Box Live or not. With Live, you pretty much get what you pay for, with PSn you have the benefit of getting free online play, but there are still issues online. At this point it's more of a personal preference.

Neither myself nor any of my friends have ever had the RROD. PS3 owners complain about it more than 360 owners.

And while you do have to pay 50 bucks for a years access to Live...one thing PS3 doesn't really advertise is the fact the battery on their controller isn't replaceable. When they battery dies...you have to buy a new controller.

And they run about 50 bucks.
