Should certain men be STERILIZED?

With every year, overpopulation will take more of our dwindling resources, like fuel, water, food, while causing pollution and environment problems. What could help is we have less babies.
Birth control and abortion does help with that but perhaps the next step to that is to have certain men sterilized. The question is on what reasons should a man be sterilized?

Criminal record?
History of violence?
History of mental illness?
Low SAT scores?

Please note, this is not THE solution but rather A solution.

And it's not like there have been a stream of "defective" people who've achieved quite a bit. You know, except Stephen Hawking. And of course for the fact that, though testing didn't exist for the conditions while they were alive, the likes of Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, Ben Franklin and Georges Washington are all suspected to have suffered from social disorders or learning disabilities ranging from ADHD, to Asperger's, to dyslexia. But I mean yeah, fuck those guys.

hey, OP...sterilization would solve the "more just like you" (theoretical) problem but they would still be here for decades using up air and resources...there is no solution but the same old final one.

Now Catholics are among the largest population of poor people (next to Muslims) on the planet, so...it's pretty obvious where to start.
We already got the basics laid out for us, Germany did the initial studies and others (Pol Pot, Turkey, Soviet Russia) did plenty of documented field research; why wait for the world to get too crowded with undesirables?

I disagree. True that Catholics and Muslims make up more poor people to eliminate but identifying Jews is easier. Track the kosher industry and find where they all live. Also consider that they control the media, the diamond market, and financial institutions. We could then redistribute the wealth. Then again we could track the Christmas industry to eliminate the Catholics but the Jews have more money.

As a population control not so many as all that, no real space increase or big surge in resource availability.

One could review Locke's "A Modest Proposal" (for Preventing the Children of Poor People From Being a Burthen to Their Parents or Country, and for Making Them Beneficial to the Publick) for some good ideas, I always did like the concept of "Poor People Baby Burgers", with cheese and extra onions.
