But there's something "funny" about that. We all know, that in todays day and age many teenage girls want to run with the cool or the popular or the slutty crowd. So, you have to stand out, be better, cooler prettier, sluttier or whatever you need to do. But if you can't do it by the usual clothing (as everyone has the same uniform in Japan) you have to do it by make-up, haircuts etc and (especially) underwear. And you don't even want to know where that can lead to. A friend of mine who teaches English (and sometimes German) in Japan told me not long ago, that a girl in her class wanted to get up after class was over, but her skirt got stuck on the edge of her table on the metal frame below the wooden plate. Result was she almost yanked down her skirt and just managed to get a hold of it and pull it back up. But it was just long enough for my teaching friend to get a glimpse of what was underneath: nothing but the bush. Guess which crowd she was probably running with.
That's a Japanese school. Wanna bet she does?
