Serenity (Firefly)

Anyone else watch that television show, Firefly? I finished watching all of the episodes and just now got the movie - Serenity.

I also bought the series Jericho... another great tv series that the network cancelled. :surprise:

Worst mistake Fox ever made. There's been talk for years of trying to pull a Family Guy/Futurama/Arrested Development on it and bring it back, even going so far as fan pledge drives to try and buy the rights to it. Nathan Fillion once even said that he would drop whatever he was doing and return to play Mal, though that might be difficult now that Castle is doing so well. Sad situation, given the amount of crap on television these days.

It was THE best SF program ever produced.
It had just the right mix of comedy, action and pathos, and the character mix was brilliant. As for Morena Baccarin :drool2:

The loss of Firefly is a genuinely painful thing. There was no part of the storyline, plots or sub-plots that I didn't like. The cast was terrific. And the whole thing was set in the adult universe. Personally, considering that this is FOX that we're talking about, I think there was some behind-the-scenes maneuvering by the church faction to sabotage the show.

Shiny.

Firefly was excellent. Wish they'd left it alone.

firefly was AMAZING. serenity was a nice little wrap up.

what a fucking shame it was so short lived.

we watched jericho too but not really my cup of tea. i dont like go america terrorist crap but my girl liked it. i mean, in essence, it was entertaining but it was so fucking cheesy and fake dramatic it bugged the shit out of me. that constant sitcom music through the whole episode.

but yes, firefly. now thats a real show.

It was great to see two actors from Firefly in the Buffyverse.

On a side note, Joss Whedon recently finished production on his version of Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing," starring Nathan Fillion (Firefly), Amy Acker (Angel, Dollhouse), Ashley Johnson (Dollhouse), Clark Gregg (The Avengers), Alexis Denisof (Buffy, Angel, Dollhouse), Riki Lindhome (Buffy), Sean Maher (Firefly), Tom Lenk (Buffy, Angel), Fran Kranz (Dollhouse), and Reed Diamond (Dollhouse), among others. Basically, it's a Joss Whedon Dream Team of actors he's worked with in his various shows. He actually filmed the whole thing in a matter of days while he was directing The Avengers, which is just nuts. Should be good.

One of the best shows out there, when it was on...problem was, nobody knew when it was on, as Fox kept moving it around.

And airing the episodes in the wrong order, or so I've heard.

Yeah, that did seem to happen quite a lot, but because it was such a good show I could overlook it.

It was the time-slot changing (like Stan said) all the time that was a pain in the ass.

I think Dr. Sheldon Cooper said it best:

"Sheldon:Who is the bigger traitor, Darth Vader, Rupert Murdoch, or Leonard Hofstadter?
Leonard:Rupert Murdoch?
Sheldon: Yes, he owns Fox and they canceled Firefly."

Amen.

Oh well...perhaps now that Much Ado About Nothing is in post-production (so we have Nathan Fillion), Eurika is canceled (we have Felicia Day), Dollhouse was canceled last year (so we have Joss Wheden)...Joss can kidnap Neil Patrick Harris and get on with Dr. Horrible 2.

definitely a great show and jericho had a lot of potential as well...shame it got cancelled

Meh, I remember a certain show that Fox ended with Lance Hendriksen called Millenium, that was a great show I enjoyed.

It was pretty good compared to most drivel on tv, but honestly I think SciFi fans over-rate it a bit.

Noooo! I love Castle, but I love Firefly too... I want it all, dammit.

Can't wait to see! So many great actors.
