SEAL Team - CBS TV series

this was sitting on my playstation vue DVR and started watching it.

I'm surprised this kind of show is allowed on network programming (I don't watch it) but kudos to CBS.

love this show.

It's dumbed down for network TV but it does them justice.

I knew a guy that was a medic with a SEAL team. He had some stories. One about waking them up unannounced about 2 a.m. loading them onto a helicopter and dropping them 5 miles out into the Pacific with nothing but a snorkel, fins and a compass. In early morning darkness in waters known for sharks.

Fuck that.

yeah. better than me.

yeah. better than me.

Yeah, that was the make or break moment to becoming a SEAL. You didn’t have to jump out but if you didn’t, you could pack your shit. At least half didn’t jump in. There was a boat escorting them with armed SEALS but that would be little comfort to me.

hell week.

WEEK.

staying awake in a classroom while the instructor drones on and you haven't been to sleep in 48 hours and they turn up the thermostat.

that right there. that goes beyond physical conditioning (you can train for that). that goes directly to how much you want it.

Oh that’s right it is called hell week. The guy I knew was not a SEAL, he was a medic for the team. He still had to be in great shape.
You already know what I am talking about. I heard that you had to stay awake for a week. The longest I have gone is almost two days. [NOBABE]The body [/NOBABE] will shut down and the risk for heart attack skyrockets if you are extremely sleep deprived. No way I could go one week without sleep. I was nodding off after two days. And I felt the physical effects. The funny thing was that only 4 hours of sleep rejuvenated me .

When I first heard that this show was going to be coming on, I thought for sure I'd watch it and be hooked. I was already familiar with David Boreanaz from BtVS and some episodes of Bones.

But, I don't know. I'm not sure what it was. I don't believe I made it past the first 2 episodes. It just didn't hook me.

Instead, I got hooked on the CW's Valor.

CW's Valor and NBC's The Brave were canceled after one season. CBS's SEAL Team and History's Six were renewed and Six is running their second season now. I watched all of them they were ok for mindless entertainment preferring SEAL Team but they all glossed significant moral issues. Hopefully the shows that remain will address them with new seasons.

Oh well. While I liked Valor, I was beginning to have a problem with the concept of it being a one story arc throughout the season instead of independent, standalone episodes. So, not a biggie.

The Brave never got off the launch pad for me. I tried to like, but it just didn't work.

The jury is still out on S.W.A.T. I was looking forward to checking that one out. However, because of scheduling conflicts against other shows that I watch, I have just not been able to remotely give S.W.A.T. a chance. I've sporadically caught maybe about 3 episodes.
