i always liked whiskey myself. :hatsoff:
Agreed about the malt, and now, I really only tend to stick with the single malts. I did, however, receive a bottle of Dewar's 12 year Special Reserve as a gift, and I have to say it's not too bad. Really taste the oak cask, but pretty good. Actually, it's VERY good, seeing as how it was free!Macallan produce a whole range of Scotch whisky ; I once had a 1965 vintage which was very fine.Glenfarclas is good too (in my whisky book it "goes down singing hymns") and there are many, many other superb distillers all with profoundly different characteristics.
Moving to Ireland the word is now spelt "whiskey" and they too have some great bottles, often overlooked which is a pity as they invented it!
The secret is to look for the word "malt" on the bottle as there is stuff sold which used inferior grains.
Give it a shot! I was hesitant myself, as I am not a huge whiskey fan, like Jack Daniels and the such, but the flavors and aromas of a good scotch are amazing. I like to have at most one per day. Good way to blow off the troubles of your life. Everything in moderation.ive never had scotch but always been curious about it.
