A "scofflaw" can be defined as a person who willfully breaks or disobeys a law or laws they believe are illegitimate, nonsensical or in violation of some right.

What law are you a scofflaw on.

I hate seatbelt laws. Not because I don't believe wearing a seatbelt makes you safer but because I don't believe it's the state's business to tell me when to wear one under threat of fine. Then doing your insurance company's job for them by reporting your lapse to them.

Well the thing is, I've been humming along my whole life wearing my seatbelt when I thought it necessary and in other times I have not...never once did I feel it necessary for the state to intervene in my personal choice on the matter....Certainly not fine me for not protecting myself in a situation that could never directly be responsible for a collision.

BTW, I think it was another poster here who said something to the effect that if you gave them 6 "ifs" they could rule the world.

Well some people are just not that paranoid about accidents and as such they may simply forget to put it on during a short trip. Whatever the case, I don't think you ought to be getting fined for it.
