They wouldnt believe him. Mental conditioning: Easy to input. Difficult to break down. Much research and many human rights abuses in the last 100 years in the attempt of how to properly train humans and bend to someone else's will. You talk like the rest of the so-called "real" religions are not just also "pure fiction" thats the point DVC and I were trying to make I think,we think they are.Or at least they have as little evidence they are true as scientology does.

As anti-religion as so many people are, you gotta admit that while catholics/christians are frickin' overwhelming.. TV channels.. churches... conservatives in government... the scientologists are actually in a strange position of power and dont believe in the 'Live and let Live' rule that so many religions enjoy. If you have to go door-to-door or WORSE to get followers... whew. But scientologists are cultists. Simple as that. They represent a clear danger, as opposed to the conservatives who.. while dangerous.. are long-term psychos. Repress sexuality? Ignore humanity? Praise the sky and accept simplistic answers in lieu of modern thinking? That's dangerous, but anyone who follows it seriously clearly isnt dangerous enough to the masses.

Most religions do, like every organization that is influenced by human nature (which is to say almost every organization) but they also started out as something people actually believed in. It didn't seem like that was their main purpose from the beginning.

"Religion" sure has taken a broad definition. I knew some really fat, depressed, uneducated people when I lived in the USA that worshiped and held mass at Burger King 3 lunches a week.....

What amazes me is that anyone would follow Hubbard's book "Dianetics" and turn it into a "religion". "Star Trek" the original series would have been a far superior choice.

If you live a third rate life or feel that you are third rate inside, you are naturally drawn to third rate things. Things that are first rate often scare and intimidate you - they seem unobtainable. Second rate things make you angry because you may feel entitled to them, but you believe again that you don't have the skills or talents to reach them. So, you settle for what you think will lift you up because you believe that you cannot do it on your own and they agree with you. The thing that all cults do is strip people down emotionally, mentally and then rebuilt them through new indoctrinations. The truth is that most of these people are willingly hypnotized and surrender knowingly as they do not want to run their own lives.

They also all share the common pattern and definition: there is no room for dissension or critical thinking in the ranks.

I think we've all known a kid a one time in our lives who would snap or freak out if you said something about his "belief" in some childish fact: Santa Claus, his father being the strongest man in the world, his mother baking the best cake - whatever. Whenever someone freaks out and is so sensitive about their "beliefs", it tells me that they do not want to hear other opinions because they know contrary opinions may shatter their fragile systems.

There are major differences with the major religions. While people can say they think the other religions are fake, it's more on philosophical grounds. Even then, while they may have been perverted over time, the major religions didn't have a basis of trying to drain money from people. With Scientology there is a lot of solid and circumstantial evidence that is pretty strong in indicating it's just a scam.
