France regards Scientology as a sect, not a religion, and the organisation could be banned if it loses the case.

Fuck yes. If it happens in France, the rest of Europe will eventually follow. Then America hopefully.

However, a Spanish court ruled that the Church of Scientology of Spain should be re-entered into the country's register of officially recognised religions.

Probably because the Judge recieved threats on himself and his family. Which will also happen to the Judge in the French case.

You may be being sarcastic ,but I absolutely agree with the premise that all religion is basically ridiculous. I am not really familiar with Scientology ,but what is the the big fuss about:dunno:

In defense off all the major religions, none of them had shady well documented beginnings like Scientology had. None of them that I know directly ask for money for healing, position in the religion, or to tell you that you will gain super powers either by doing so.

Hear me now and believe me later, if this "religion" tried to entrench itself anywhere in the Middle East everyone involved would get beheaded. Look to Iran and their tolerance of other beliefs like Baha'i or Christianity.
