Of the choices, I really like Blade Runner; on top of excellent graphics is a really good mystery/private eye story... plus the entire cast were arguably in their prime in their profession...

The Satyr Icon

Please read my first comment. Post your favorite Sci-Fi movies from the 1970's to the Present.

I just put a few in the poll to start things off.

I probably should have put the original Transformers movie, even though it's animated.
It's still one of my favorite movies, I'd say number one.

Lawnmower man wasn't a bad movie. :cussing:

2001 - A Space Odyssey

Silent Running

Metropolis only in the original version - Moroder's synthesizer peep-peep-peep destroyed it

Solaris - the original

The Andromeda Strain

Tremors

12 Monkeys

- Various Star Trek TOS movies
- The Star Wars series
- The Back-to-the-Future series

I also remember watching a lot of very ... "memorable" sci-fi/horror films when I was a bit too young (oddly, that didn't bother my ***): Arachnophobia, *****, Predator, Scanners, ******** of the Corn, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Terminator, Critters, The Fly, Tremors, the "I come in peace ... you go in pieces" movie, etc.

Blade Runner - Classic, and great on its own merit
Metropolis - One of the first.
Warlords of Atlantis - Never seen.
The Black Hole - Original Disney sci-fi, trying to compete with Star Wars, but I still like it.
Enemy Mine - Dennis Quaid was great
Starship Troopers - BUGS!!!!!! I love it.
Lawnmower man - Ground breaking VR, for the 90's.

Blade Runner is definitely tops, which Metropolis is that? The original Fritz Lang film or the anime based on the manga by Osamu Tezuka?

The Fritz Lang film was made in 1927.

I add Premium Link Upgrade and Premium Link Upgrade .

Aliens the true adaptation of Robert A. Heinlein's Starship Troopers not that Paul Verhoeven abortion.

I'd add :
THE ADVENTURES OF BUCKAROO BANZAI ACROSS THE EIGHTH DIMENSION
The 5th Element

It seems like most people here have a very different view of what a science fiction movie is than me. 90% of the movies posted here aren´t science fiction in my definition, most of them are horror or action/adventure movies. In my definition a science fiction movie is a movie where the science fiction part is the main theme. Star Wars is an adventure movie and ***** is a horror movie that just happens to take place in space for example. Among the few movies i can think of that i would call science fiction are Contact, 2001 - A Space Odyssey and Close Encounters of The Third Kind.
