I still believe she is a bright, resourceful qualified person and she can help Republicans. However, I believe the press dismantled her and she will only be a minor player in the future.

I'll say this ...
I really didn't think much of her as the Republican pick, especially so late in-the-game (she really needed a full year-plus on the trail). But I do have to say the media is extremely biased against unlike Democrat equivalents. I do have to agree that it's sad they go after her underage daughter and not the Obama's.
And I'm not talking about Letterman. Letterman is just saying what others have been doing for some time, and regularly. Letterman actually has some wit, while other media outlets just act holier-than-thou.
It's pretty pathetic overall.

Edwards never derided a lifestyle or implied he was utterly faithful beyond what we would normally expect from a married man.
Our society reasonably expects a certain level of imperfection within their regular lives of people.
I think it was irresponsible of Edwards to run knowing he had this baggage out there at least without coming clean on it first. Imagine if he won the nomination and then this story broke...
I hear what you are saying, but the implied message conveyed by someone running for president is that there are no major scandals lurking in the wings. Edwards was stupid. he may have some great ideas and could probably be an effective leader in a cabinet office but his arrogance cost him most, if not all, of his credibility
I guess it depends on what the definition of the word "major" is and who's defining it.
Some consider Clinton to have had major scandals some believed they had nothing to do with his ability to govern. It's obvious it didn't beyond what his opponents created out of it.

IMO Republicans don't feel they need a thinker as much as an effective mouthpiece for their policies.
They believe all they need to do is place the appropriate people around a Republican POTUS to tell him what to say and do....moreso than the typical advisory roles and the person will be a successful.
well, it wasn't just the Palins stance on the abstinence/teen pregnancy issue, it applied to the entire Conservative base, lol.
