Sarah Palin: Is She Really Going To Make a Difference In The Election??

This woman scares me, she's a right-wing radical that I don't think is a good idea for this country. Having McCain/Palin is just a continuation of what we have now and we see how well that is going. Other than the fact that I believe he's too old to be running, he's just a repeat of the current. Also, personally since there is a minimum age limit to be the prez, I think there should be a maximum and he's far beyond that point.

And I've got a stupid question, why is religious beliefs an issue with this? Isn't there supposed to be separation of church and state? uhhh hello?

Honestly what has this woman done that is so great? She's the governor of a state of only 670,000 people...uhh where I'm originally from NYC there are 8 million people..sooo what's so great here? Also, she comes from a state where one of the biggest industries is what? hmmmm could it be oil, how convienient is that?

Her pro-life position is an archaic philosophy and is not realistic in these modern times and I do not think anyone has the right to tell anyone else what they can or cannot do with their body...morality cannot be legislated.

Like many conservatives, it is apparent that money is more important than keeping a healthy safe environment...

And like many conservatives believe they should shove their religious beliefs in everyone's face and that they are right and everyone else is wrong. Whos says so?

If these people get into office, it will just be a repeat of what we have now and I don't want to hear anyone crying about it later on down the line.

thats my :2 cents:

yep,
i think that's a pretty good post too :glugglug:

She looked like a deer caught in the headlights when Gibson asked her if she agreed with the Bush Doctrine. What you guys think?

More of a "pit bull with lipstick" caught in the headlights with her repeated answers to him of "I didn't/don't blink Charlie".Read that as I don't Blink/think too much Charlie I just blindly plow ahead without reason or thought.A dangerous right wing idealogue who thinks the world and issues are black and white.Yeah they are a big change from GWB.:eek:

Let's analyze the Sarah Palin interview with Charles Gibson on ABC.

Here it is in it's entirety:
part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNPGnZurs1k
part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lxkz3n8J4Q&feature=iv
part 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15kyPbNudSw&feature=iv
part 4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swN2YVrZrFY&feature=iv

To start, let me point out a few things I noticed.

She looked like a deer caught in the headlights when Gibson asked her if she agreed with the Bush Doctrine. It's obvious that she didn't even know what he was talking about. Then, after he explained what it was to her, she answered by saying that she believes that the US has the right to carry out a pe-emptive attack on any country that the US government labels as a threat to national security. Then she said, in referrence to the Bush Doctrine, "Thats what a McCain/Palin administration would do." So clearly they are not any different than the Bush administration when it comes to foreign policy, like they claim to be.

Also, when asked "Why do you think the hijackers attacked us on 9/11?", she said the terrorists attacked us because they hate us for our "ideals". Please! This means that she subscribes to that tired old Bush "They hate us for our freedom" rhetoric. She clearly has zero understanding as to why terrorists want to carry out attacks on the US. Either that or she is lying about the reasons, like other republican politicians do, and is just feeding more bullshit to the unintelligent masses that comprise the republican base. And if that is the case, then she's a cynic and a liar.

I also had an issue with her claims that she has foreign affairs experience because, as she puts it, "Alaska is close to Russia", even though she admits that she has never even met a foreign leader in her life.

I find it a little vexing that she can't just admit that she doesn't now shit from shinola. I mean, she didn't even know what the Bush Doctrine was. Pathetic.

What you guys think?

I think you summarized it nicely, with decent.. pointed statements about her lack of forethought involving questions.. let alone govern.. ahem, vice-presiding over an entire nation with McCain.

Hmph. Bible thumping idiot moms. IMO, more of a threat to everyones way-of-life than a 'terrorist'.

I also don't get how she is using "Alaska is close to Russia" as some sort of selling point that she can handle foreign affairs. Being close to something doesn't mean that you understand it. Shit, my front door is no more than 10 feet away from my neighbor's front door and I don't even know his fucking name.

Common on it doesn't matter. We all know that the VP is just a figure head unless the president dies. She will just have to smile alot for the camera's and go meet people that McCain doesn't want too.

Bush was just a figure head or was the result of his reign his vast amount of experience that he had??

Alaska is so far out there that it should be regarded as a foreign country/state.

So if Jeff Foxworthy or Kid Rock was McCain's runningmate, you would have no problem with them winning and taking a place in office?

I say send 'em back to mexico!

Ahem.. right, and your thoughts on abortion?

Was it mine? It cant be mine. I used tha sheepskin! Aw heck..

Err, what about Barack Obama?

Well you might be a redneck if you cant pronounce his dang name without a dictionary!

::crowd laughs wildly::

Given McCain's age and issues with cancer, his choice is damn scary, especially since it appears it was only made so that the far right reactionary wing of the Republican party would back McCain.

I honestly can't think of a less qualified vice-presidential candidate, with the exception of Dan Quayle who again was brought on the ticket simply to prevent the far right reactionary wing from screaming bloody murder.

Palin is scarily ill-informed on way too many issues including just about every serious and important foreign policy issue.

And for those who'd say, "So what, the Vice President doesn't hold any real power or do anything anyway", I have two words for you: Dick Cheney, the most powerful Vice President in the history of the United States.

Even Dan Quayle looks good next to her.He was a senator from a state with a population many times Alaska's.As you allude to she is clearly a small town mayor, small state(I don't care how many sq miles Alaska is lol) governor trying to make out she has a clue about national politics. It's not about experience, it's about being clueless and beleiving a bunch of nonsense like creationism woman who will be a heartbeat(and its a 72 yr old heart at that) away from the presidency. If she ever became President GWB's honor of being the known as the worst ever would probably be in danger.

All the common sense in the world isnt going thru the skulls of the 48% of America who thinks McCain's repub ticket is an excellent choice.

An excellent question would be: If you know that people cant even take care of their own best interests.. how far should government go? The jails and prisons are pretty full, the educational system isnt top notch, and we have thousands upon thousands of ours over in a foreign country doing "God's work" (Your god aint my G_d, Sarah.)for what will soon be 'the previous asshole'

It's at times like this when I wonder if the wise choice is to pull the Indian chick's LHC paranoia maneuever.

In other words, off myself and let everyone else boil in their own ignorance.

As far as science goes, the evidence strongly suggests that human beings are at least partially responsible for climate change.
What is "climate change" ? Is this terminology interchangeable with "global warming" ? What is the criteria for measuring "climate change" ? Please differentiate between "Climate Change" and natural occurring Interglacial fluxuation ?
I'm sorry Sparrow, I need to see several independent scientific reports of consensus. This issue has become all too politically charged for me to believe either way. The left wing appears to be downright activist about the matter, while the right wing . . honestly, I don't know how they poll on the matter.

From life long personal observations, I tend to find that issues of which are backed by activism have a deep rooted ulterior motive, motives which only serve a few. Modern environmentalism is no exception.

Above, it actually appears as if you, in fact, have your doubts about the existence of "climate change" with your assertion of "evidence strongly suggests" and "human beings are at least partially responsible . ."
It looks like wiggle room.

I heard all of those talking points on overnight newstalk radio. Were you listening, via online, to John Rothman (lefty) last night ?

Oh, here's one for you -

If Howard Dean would have been the pres. nominee in 2004, would the dems have questioned his capacity to become President being that he was "only" a senator from puny, minute Vermont ? :nono: :D

I could live with the fact that she is 2 years removed from mayor of a fairly small town if she struck me as an exceptional person. But she doesn't.
She strikes me as very tough and not stupid.
But she also strikes me as neither intelligent nor well read (to the point of ignorance sometimes), stubborn and religiously rather extremist that spills over to her political views.
She seems like someone that would make a good Republican Presidential press secretary (tough, confident, looks great and a right winger).
But President? Not unless she has superb advisors and defers often to their judgements; i.e. a figurehead. But anyone can do that. Is that what the U.S. President should be?

One thing's for certain -

I'd rather spend the night at Sarah's place !

What could I possibly talk to Obama about ? The weather ?. . maybe a little bit - o - hoops ?
I mean, does he do guy things ?
Is he consumed with 100% politics everyday ?
Does he clean his own rain gutters ?
Does he ever lay around the house on Football Sunday, unshowered, and stack up beer cans ?
Is he a man or machine ?

Palin isn't going to make a bit of difference. No way that blantantly pandering to former Hillary Clinton supporters is going to win over any votes. Pandering NEVER works in politics, NEVER. :dunno:

Don't listen to talk radio ,never heard of John Rothman so no didn't get any talking points.Compare Palin to anyone you want and I think she looks like neophyte in way over her head.Watch the interview with Charlie Gibson, she is not ready for the big time of national politics and the issues of the day.Listen to her rhetoric ,simplistic fear mongering answers to complex issues. That may play with some people, but clearly didn't work in the elections of 2006 when the republicans lost many seats in congress. They wheeled out the be afraid of the dems being in power and used words like "defeatocrats" and got drubbed.I'm not saying its not possible to be from somewhere as remote and isolated as Alaska is and still be someone with an understanding of the world and the country, just that she isn't that.McCain is one thing Palin is quite another.Hopefully she ,the 1st dude(her husband) and their 17 yr old pregnant daughter with her boyfriend's name now tattoed on her hand clan are sent packing back to their world of hockey and snow mobile racing, creationism beleiving, and leave national politics to mature sophiticated ,educated others.

And this will all become really clear when she is forced to participate in unscripted national debate with Joe Biden who I am sure will be able to reveal how unprepared she is much more than Charlie Gibson did.The republicans tactic of trying to get the media to be "deferential" to her as they said they should be is not going to work and people like Biden and the democrate party sure aren't going to not point out to everyone just what and who she is.A simpleton who would especially if she ever became President be a disaster.
