Did I ever tell you about the time that I was on the Twilight Zone coaster at MGM? The ride is the type where you sit 4 across each row and there are 3 or 4 rows back, so one big 'car' of riders, the four of you in a row all share one lap bar...no other restraint. You know going into the ride that the only real 'ride' part is a 13 story drop at the end but they run the car through walls that break away, that sort of thing, before the last big drop.
Well I was with two other friends and they sat us next to a guy that was really, really, like airline charging for two seats, fat and so when the lap bar came down as far as it would for him, it left like 18-24 inches of space between our legs and the bar. Needless to say I was in terror the whole time, not from the cheesy lighting effects or things that popped out at you...but from thinking about the impending drop and the inevitable launching from my seat accident that I was sure was going to be on the 6 o'clock news. All three of us ended up putting our arms under the bar, bent at the elbow, hunched over, holding hands, trying to keep our asses from being lifted and tossed out of the ride. Again, not normally the scariest coaster or most well done ride but for me and my two friends it was by far the most horrific.
