these youngsters say "who's Bob Dylan" and "who"s Pink Floyd"?? Now that's sad.
I've never heard anyone refer to a Zeppelin, Stones, Beatles album as a "joint."
.
Sad, so sad. What is this world coming to.
Good list, I like LZ but not fanatical about them. The Beatles the same thing. But you know what's sadder than a wrinkled old rock star? When your at work and these youngsters say "who's Bob Dylan" and "who"s Pink Floyd"?? Now that's sad. ... and I have to agree with PirateKing, I don't bother with concerts anymore I just get it on vid or mp3.
I've never heard anyone refer to a Zeppelin, Stones, Beatles album as a "joint."
I think all public entertainers need to learn when it's time to turn the spotlight over to the next gen.
Sure thing. But I forgot Lynyrd Skynyrd who are still touring with Van Zant's little brother, which, depending on your viewpoint could be sacralege. 'Pronounced' has to be one of the great American rock albums, but it's a shame there aren't more great artists.
Well,my viewpoint is that it's complete sacrilege.Gary Rossington is the only member from the original band who is still there. Ricky Medlocke was a member in '70-'71,and is now,but the fact remains:
Lynyrd Skynyrd died on October 20,1977
They should have stopped after the Tribute Tour in '87
It sure is a shame what happened to them. Real tragedy. More of a tragedy, is that I don't have a ton of American bands that I can think of from that era that really moved me. There is only one Aerosmith song I can even stand - 'Dream on.'
ZZ Top was good. I just draw blanks when trying to dig American bands from the 60s and 70s.
The Zombies, Ten Years After, the Hollies, Procol Harum etc. are all European.
