Restrictions on newbies posting

Nah..hotrod wasn't a swearer, more a boaster.
Emma was the true potty mouth.

I'm still trying to understand why a newbie would use "FU" on their second post.....

I wonder why he choose a congratulatory thread to do it in? At least he didn't start a FU tread for the board. :dunno:

I'm new to the board myself and I'm still learning the ropes. As for a limit I don't see much of a need (just an opinion). As long as people keep posting good quality stuff let them continue do so.

Trouble is, some people just don't have the sense to be sensible.

I'm a noob here but I have been posting on other forums (truck-related, not in competition with Freeones - for the record) so I kinda know how it works.

What cracks me up are people like "dunit" who have hundreds of posts and they are all identical - composed entirely of "wow she's hot" and "nice".

I prefer quality over quantity.

*edit: I am still trying to get used to this whole "rep" thing. I get how it works, but it's hard to remember to rep people because I am not used to doing it.

I joined back in June...and the truth is...I really don't remember the mechanics of signing up. I know I had to provide some basic information, and I'm pretty sure that I had to wait on an email before my account was active.

What I've wondered is...isn't there some way that people would have to read the rules and then check something that they agree to the terms of service? At the very least...you would hope all the new people would read the rules at least once then...

I know whenever I have to install software they always show the EULA at the start.
But, like most people, I ignore it and just install anyway..I guess something like that would be ignored here as well.

I didn't know there even was a problem! You guys aren't talking about me? Is it my breath or something? :jester:

Seems like a ton of new people lately.

question: i'm brand new to the board, but have been visiting freeones for quite some time. while surfing i semi-regularly find pics/vids i haven't seen in many of the threads. how do i post? i've read what NOT to do, but didn't see anything on HOW to do. never posted a link anywhere, so some instructions would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

If you have a question about how to do something, start a thread in the Members Only forum and ask your question. We will be glad to help. It's not good to ask unrelated questions in the middle of someone elses thread that's not on topic.

BTW, a search of the board, using the search function at the top of every forum, will usually result in finding the information you want.

Doesn't bother me...it actually means that this thread has a use now!

Wouldn't it be awesome if a newbie couldn't start their first new thread until they've run at least 3 searches...so they learn THERE IS A SEARCH BUTTON
and that it really works? :)

Well, here's a genuine reason why you are going to continue seeing Newb-spam- "posting on the message board (reaching 100 posts gives you 500 points, every extra 100 posts 25 points)." Freeones is basically asking for it. I understand and like the fact they want to promote users to interact with each other, but frankly, most aren't going to be responsible about it. It's too bad really. Check out my total posts, I'm doing my best here . . .

Not true, I certainly didn't post in 17 consecutive threads with comments like 'this is good' and , when I first started.

Just because the threads are there, it doesn't mean you HAVE to post in every one of them.
