I agree with this sentiment. Rep to you. Yes I'm aware of the irony.
It is all very simple:
1) Divide the current rep total by the number of posts that person has made
2) Add the person's age
3) Multiply by the number of fingers that person has (thumbs included) (sorry to the industrial accident victims) (if you need to smile, think of the ***** tricks you can do with gloves on)
4) subtract the number of serious relationships the person has go bad since signing up for this board
5) Divide by the year the person was born
6) Reset to zero and have everyone who wants to complain line up to lick Roald's taint

It has just occurred to me that the cap should be twice the size (4294967295 to be exact) as long as unsigned, and not signed numbers are used.

every member should have there rep left alone until they reach the maximum limit, when a member reaches the limit there rep will automatically go back to zero

Well, my suggestion is as follows - let some distinguishing mark to those who had reached 20 million reputation points. And then reset to zero, that member again was able to climb stairs. The sign, like the one that gives sports teams that win 10 championships. For example, a star.
Why don't you give him some sort of designation... like gold and platinum albums in music, then reset the rep. That way, we'll know his status rep wise and still be able to keep his rep going.
I wouldn't like resetting everything to zero. If you wanted to reset the points, I'd say just do away with the points system, but IMO, I agree with PirateKing. Just don't reset the # of posts.
That's not a bad idea. Their username could be a different color like an OCSM (not the same color, of course) and in place of their rep points, it could say something like Gold Member or Platinum Member.

Reset everyone to zero and then ban all of those ridiculous post count milestone threads that are just an excuse to rep someone for no reason. They cheapen the system and inflate the rep of all those who participate.
As a side effect, this would also mean that Marlo Manson and Connor Macleod would have nothing to post about. Ever. That's a win my book...

The rep has a higher inflation rate than Zimbabwe $ and is generally meaningless.
Since it's only a month and a half before the new board comes in, I would vote to do nothing. It's not that long.
If not that, then reset it to zero. If someone cares that much about their rep, they can leave a note in their signature or something.

I think we should be able to get a blowjob from the OCM of our choice and the FO Team Member of our choice once we hit 2 billion. That is only only fair solution I can think of.

Unfortunately I can't reset individual rep. It's all or nothing. Limit of the program. Otherwise that would have been a great suggestion.
Don't worry, post count isn't even in the equation.
Thing is, people are going to rep their friends just to rep them or rep random strangers until they can rep their friend again anyways. It doesn't matter what the thread is about...there's absolutely no way of policing this. Rep will always mean nothing.
Unless of course I install a plugin that makes people give away rep points they already have. So if you can rep for 21 million, 21 million comes out of your own private rep pool and your own rep power will drop.
THEN the system will balance itself out naturally.
