The crimes of the few outweigh the good of the many. :(
If it's that obvious that there are people abusing the system then it's probably possible to figure out which ones are doing it... why not just deal with them and not jack everyone.

Yeah... don't give people the benefit of the doubt that they already are.

I resent this comment. The reason we are here in this situation in the first place is because some people have been abusing rep. Why don't you blame those people! I certainly wasn't trying to indicate that MOST of the board members were abusing rep, just some. I agree, though, that this solution is probably not the best, since it punishes everyone.

The rep system was abused from day one it came to the board. I remember as that is when I joined. As I said above there has always been little rep groups who go round just repping each other. This will just make it happen even more, as there are still ways to get round the so called limits. One way just increase the size of your group.

Rep was originally brought here for fun. It never has, doesn't and never will show what type of poster the person is. The only way to learn about a member is read their posts and look at what they add to the board.

I've mentioned this to quite a few members who have sent me the "I repped you but you didn't rep me back" PM's. I don't have time to just go around repping people. I use it for either a short quick PM or just to say thanks for something.

Hence why I always say "take it away and see if I care".

So my opinion is as I say, keep it fun or just get rid of it. Certainly shouldn't be linked to MyFreeOnes.

Like Poggy said, it's been abused from the beginning. It's hardly ever used as it was intended and it's seemed to cause more problems than anything else. Personally, I enjoy the comments and seeing that people are thinking about me but the number doesn't mean squat.
