Report: Neil Armstrong dead at 82

knows petras secret: she farted.
Godspeed Sir.

Now I'm just waiting for the conspiracy theorists to come out and say the government killed him in order to keep his mouth shut about faking the moon landing

face it, neil never existed in the first place, he was a cyborg unit, built by the television network that aired the "landing."

"Buzz, you were a great adventurer, explorer, and pioneer, Huzzah."

*mixes a heavy glass of Tang and drinks in one gulp*
:banger:

RIP Neil Armstrong .

Why was he a great American, just because he was the first man on the moon?! It wasn't his credit that "we" did land on the moon. Or?

May he rest in peace anyway. :angels:
Neil Armstrong was picked to be the first man to land on the moon because of his humility. A self-proclaimed geek, he stayed out of the limelight after Apollo 11 returned, much like he did as an Astronaut as well.

He also was one of the coolest Astronauts under pressure, even beyond what you'd typically find in a Navy or Marine aviator (he was Navy). Several times he escaped death, including on Gemini 8 where he had the foresight to bring up the controls system on a moments notice and prevent a serious roll that would have caused both him and Scott to black out. In microgravity, angular momentum is virtually perpetual, and they would have been lost.

He was a true American hero of the purest kind, a man of no ego, and a man of great skill and wisdom. Ironically it is because of his humility that he won't be missed, but always admired whether he was alive or dead.

BTW, he also achieved the required "space" altitude in the X-15 as a test pilot as well IIRC.

One small step for Armstrong.. one giant leap for humankind

The one and only.
The landing on the moon is the one positive event that people from my father's generation will always remember in terms of where they were and what they were doing when the news broke.

His passing was a very big deal here. Neil Armstrong was the most well known and iconic Boilermaker of all-time. He was a true American hero, and he will be dearly missed. Much respect.

Is somewhere outhere.
I was wondering about how they would do his funeral.Like most folks either get buried or
cremated. But I wonder if he made a request to be put in a rocket and fired up to the sky.

Just for old time sake :D

Maley... :iloveyou:

Mostly because your a lover, not a hater, and when you try to hate, you don't do it very well...

His legacy is that he rejected the fame that was put on him for being the "man" who did it...

He was very much a "we" guy, and was the first to point out that the project was large, using the talents of many people...

He rejected the spotlight, was self deprecating in demeanor, incredibly intelligent, an engineer, a Christian, a Boy Scout leader, and all kinds of other things that are great, yet he wanted no credit for it, at least in this life... :angels:

We would all do well to aspire to his manliness, not his astronautness... :)

I still love you brother... :shy:
