Not trying to take sides here, but you are correct. If a person tries to counter what they think is an unreasonable or irrational argument by being even more unreasonable or irrational themselves, how often do you see that work?

What's the old saying about arguing with a fool by acting a fool, and then the observers won't be able to discern which is the fool?
