Remember Old Slow Computers

A friend built an IMSAI? computer just had toggle switches and lights, no monitor. Another friend had some home brew which ran CPM and had an 8" disk drive. My first was Bally Arcade with the computer module. they never produced the keyboard so all the programing had to be done on a telephone sized keypad. My 2nd was an Apple ][, what a b.... it was loading programs off an audio tape!

The day the Mac was introduced, a friend went to Wozniac's *******'s computer store to see it during his lunch hour. While waiting for a free computer, he watched a *** take the OS icon, drop it in the trash can and clears it. POOF!! The salesman came over at said "WHAT DID YOU DO?!" *** told him. He runs to the phone and frantically dials. Probably the quickest OS bug fix in computer history! ;-)

I remember playing the original Leisure Suit Larry game on a friends Tandy 1000,and man looking back,it was a real piece of ****.Even worse though was playing games on another friend's Commodore 64.Spy vs. Spy,along with pretty much every other game took like 3-5 minutes to load up just to play.

The Hobbit had graphics Pitino. Very basic pictures came up every now and again. I remember a screen with a cooking pot in the forest. Also a prison cell and others.

I got a free edition of the book too with the game when I bought it.

But if we include game consoles in this I go back even further than the Atari system to the Home Computer Games Machine or something like that. It was Pong and things like that on it.

(Showing my age again!)
