Religion

Religion on a personal level is what you make of it.
On a institutional level it is a means for power and control.
Large powerful churches are the single most dangerous thing on our planet.

No argument. Nice posting.

In the 20th century - The Nazi's, the Communists, and Japan's nationalists I believe did the most killing in that century and they would not be tied to a religion.

Prayer

What do people fuckin pray for anyway? Did god ever answer a prayer? Is he so insecure that he needs our worship? Doesen't he know what we want even before we ask? It's all godamn fuckin nonsense!

Didn't you get your answer in the 500 other threads you participated in about this subject? Some of them you even started. Go back and read them.

Re: Prayer

I'm not really even religious, but I tried this weird kind of praying ritual couple times. That actually worked surprisingly enough each time and everything I asked for my selfish needs came to be, yet at the same time I kept refusing them each time... After prayers, an angel came to me during my dreams. Usually besides a little chit-chat, they tend to ask me one question, which I tend to answer with a counter question without an answer, but those angels tend to lend me a little helping hand either way. Perhaps this is a proof that there is something wrong with certain religious beliefs...

Why do you give a shit? As long as no one expects, or forces their beliefs, or wills on you, let them do what they need to do, to make themselves feel better.

Re: Prayer

Here's the thing: if you're an atheist (like me), it doesn't hurt you when other people pray.

Fuck, it's easy being an atheist. No waking up early and attending church services on Sunday. No putting money in the collection plate. No praying every night before bed. We got it easier than they do. So why not let them carry on however they want?

It doesn't affect me when someone prays. If people believe it helps them, more power to them. Chase whatever makes you happiest in life. Hell, some people wear those magnetic bracelets around their wrists. I'm pretty sure those don't a goddamn thing, but I don't say anything about it. They think it works, and it doesn't affect me. So I let it go.

You need to lighten up, Scooter. There's no reason to get this worked up over something that has no bearing on your life whatsoever.

Re: Prayer

^ What he said.

I'm also an atheist. I have known people from every faith (or lack thereof) imaginable. If they thought that their prayers could help me get through a tough time, I would always thank them...no need to be rude about it. For the most part, though, they did their thing, and I did mine. Neither they nor I had any effect or bearing on the other. It's when they get invasive and try to cram their beliefs and way of life down my gullet that things start to get problematic.

Re: Prayer

I pray at the weirdest times about the weirdest stuff in the weirdest positions. Just remembered it's time to donate again to the Museum Of Lactose Intolerance. I pray no one got one stuck sideways.

Jezuschrist!

I notice so many churchgoers in my town. What drives them? The love of god or the fear of fuckin hell? Prayer has never done fuckin anything for this person. I believe prayer is fucking talking to, and convincing yourself!

I've merged this with your previous three threads all stating exactly the same thing. Next time you feel like repeating yourself, keep it to this thread rather than starting a new one. Cheers.
