rc helicopters

I've never flown one but I remember looking at a couple tower hobbies catalogs when I was younger. They have a shit load of parts, including helicopters.

Once I get some spare money though, I was planning on building a car out of their parts. After that, I might go with a helicopter.

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
I have always wanted to buy one, but i think that the cheap one would be a waste of money!

Exactly...that's why you learn to fly on the cheap one, so when it crashes, you didn't just destroy a $1000.

so heres the rc update. after 4 flights and subsequently 4 crashes i have decided that the chopper i bought is too advanced for me. a co worker has one that is one step down and more durable. he was willing to do a trade so i got a new copter with the parts i need on order and it should all be together by the 6th! im so freakin pumped!!!!!!!!

I take it that your unit is one of those 4 channel 2.4 gigahz models, yes ?

I know that this is a heli thread but I couldn't resist - fwiw

I like the C 130 @ 3:17
and the Messerschmitt 109 with retractable landing gear @7:48.

anyone else here into em? i just bought my first one, and honestly i think i got a bit ahead of myself with the type i bought. it was awesome for about 20 minutes till i ran it into a chair and there goes the main rotor blades.....

on a side note if anyone knows a super cheap site to go to get parts..... ud have a new best friend in me for sharing......

Yep I have 1. The best I can do is get it like 6 inches off the ground before I land it for fear of crashing it.

Ya'll need to get a decent RC helicopter training. I started flying Heli's after flying RC airplanes. Never had any training and I flew a Thunder Tiger Raptor 50. I have also flown a T Rex 450se.

Plenty of good flight sims out there to practice before dumping money into it.

Also the rotor wash is worse like the first 6" to 1' off the ground. Once you get a little higher than that you will find the heli becomes a lot more stable.

Can't seem to control it. I kinda panic when it gets high. I hit a power line once and that was it.
