Racism in cartoons.

Is it just me or did you never see any black people on the Jetsons? what are they trying to say, that there won't be any black people in the future? that's just wrong.

there wasnt? also. fuck the jetsons. i hated that show.

Lets see no minorities on the Jetson's unless you count Rosie lol.But also none on the Flinstones or just about any place on TV at that time.I'm old enough to remember when Bill Cosby being on I Spy,or Greg Morris being a guest on Dick Van Dyke and then he was on Mission Impossible was all ground breaking stuff.

Is there a point to this really? Is everyone just trying to start racial arguments? Its only a matter of time it will turn. Other than pushing buttons I can see nothing "viable" in this discussion or the other, only "volatile". I thought this type stuff was frowned upon here?

I agree. There's more important things to talk about other than "racism" in cartoons...like, what should I stroke to later?

Maybe the Jetsons weren't human. And whatever type of "being" they were, they didn't have different colours...

Problem solved. Now let's end it before someone takes things in a bad "bannable" direction :D

Legzman

what the fuck you lookin at?
Does it really matter? Eventually all humans will be the same color! Think about it! All the different races are inner-breeding! Eventually we'll all be a nice toupe color!

I think part of the reason why is the fact if they did put some black person on the Jetsons for example, it would just seem to be something that was ****** and put in there for political correctness instead of it being organic in nature. That is like the opposite of a lot of ******** shows I see when I scan the television now. Take for example the Power Rangers. Doesn't it seem strange that there is always some a combination of a white man, white woman, black man or women and some Asian person thrown it there for good measure within the group? The blatantness of the political correctness is almost comical at times even if small ******** aren't old enough to realize it. There is a lot of people out there that are friends with racially diverse people, yet most of the time I go out I don't see a perfectly intermixed group of friends walking around everywhere I go every single time. The morning news shows are almost as bad. There is no way that's coincidence. It's like there must be some secret rule the networks use where they have to have a black guy or two in there, one of which does the weather, a middle aged white woman, an Asian women, and a white guy. I’m completely guessing but in this country there must be a higher portion of Asian women working in journalism that are on television in this country than just about any other profession.

If you want to see racist cartoons go to youtube and type in "censored eleven".

actually, I was being a bit tongue in cheek with this topic to point out that very phenominon...

but I do resent it a bit that we have seven billion argueably pointless threads, that I don't scoff at because I understand that people are intrested in those things and take them for what they will, and whenever we have any serious discussion that pushes buttons and cuts to the heart of sensitive and repressive issues, instead of taking the enlightened stance that I would have thought from this board in dismissing of taboos, it get's shot down.

you are always the one that says "if you don't have something nice to say..." so please don't come into my thread just to tell me that it's pointless.

the real point if anyone cares to see it beyond the surface, if anyone wants to dare to go there, is what I noticed about how things that we saw naively and innocently as a *** envoke different feelings and are cast in a whole 'nother light when we see them as adults, and why is that? is it a societal thing as some pointed out, or is it just a dark cast by us because of our own feelings? my point was to make a bit of light heart at those other threads, but to also try to get to the bottom of them in a roundabout way of figuring.

I don't waste my time with the seven billion posters I'm not familiar with that much. Or waste my time usually "scoffing" a obvious blunder.

Maybe that's just the point, seeing your posts daily and you being a recognizable active member. I'm sorry you took it personally, but to me it was baiting a crowd to head in the wrong direction. Not saying intentionally, but the same result probably in the end none the less. You are aware of the way things take a turn in here quickly, racial talk of any type or politics being the main ones that turn.

I have always been aware as an adult of the lack of and the portrayal of blacks in the past in all types of entertainment. Not as a ***** though, since becoming an adult. I think everyone has been and as DW said youtube is full of ****** cartoons. It has while granted very slowly it has indeed turned around. The past is the past and to still try to constantly bring up and discuss it only continues to harvest anger and resentment.

So now back to my other post, my opinion on the topic is and was then that discussing it serves no purpose other than the possibility of a member using it to start a heated debate on a subject that really shouldn't be discussed. Some people when given an inch must take a mile and that's the way of the boards. All IMHO only of course. :)

ON topic I see ******** now that I never saw for what it was then. I only thought it funny. I see sexual tension and innuendos I never saw then. Yes, as adults we see a lot more.

This is what is wrong with this world, everyone wants to make things racial, these are the people who are creating **** out of nothing. There is so much **** and racism in the world already, and some people just want to make more. The initial post may have been "tounge in cheek" but the sad truth is that there are those who will make racial issues out of anything, because they think they are doing some good when all they are doing is just making the problem worse.
