R. Lee Ermey, best known for portraying Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in Full Metal Jacket, has died. His performance in Full Metal Jacket, almost entirely improvised, earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

There was FMJ of course, but I use to watch this show he had on History Channel or maybe Discovery where he would try out different weapons systems. He came across as a genuine good guy.
