The Second-Hottest Man in my Mother's Basement
I thought everyone hated that Justin Bieber kid. He's like Hitler, but just not as cute and cuddly.
Oh, I know Schoenberg only messed with twelve-tone for a while, but that's what I remember him for. If it wasn't for Shoenberg, Berg and Webern wouldn't've gotten into twelve-tone, and it may only have been a side note in the annals of serialism and set theory.I'm not intending to dis the Frenchies, and much of what you mention above is quite pleasing.
And remember, several things happened with Schoenberg, and not everything he wrote was 12 tone. Listen to Verklärte Nacht, for example. Or even something like his three songs for orchestra.
And Mahler wasn't 12 tone. But listen to the entire universe he creates. And what's more, even though the scope of the work is so magnificent, listen to the pleasing melodies, the small, quiet moments of tranquillity and sublime moments. Listen to the masterful use of the orchestra, and dream about being able to orchestrate like that. Look, for example, at the opening to his fifth:
They've had some monumental stages before, but that's amazing. Hey, it keeps people in the industry working, right? That's a lot of stage people to get that shit together.
I don't think I've ever heard a single Wilco or Hinder song. Does this make me a bad person?
Explains a lot!I like Nickelback.
Now correct me if I'm wrong, but over the years on this board you have admitted to various deviant acts of congress with various fauna, flora and household objects. To the best of my knowledge the only things left unmolested are the current pope, the late queen mum (God Bless Her!) and Simon Cowell and yet you think judgement upon you rests upon your listening habits relating to Wilco and Hinder.
Mmmm, raw incestuous glory. . .Well, now that you put it that way I guess you're right. No one apart from me has the moral authority to judge here. So be off with you children. For none of you are worthy enough to bask in my raw incestuous glory.
I never said Mahler was twelve-tone. I know he was a master orchestrator. Hell, if you can write a piece that starts in one key, ends halfway across the circle of fifths, and actually works you're alright in my book.
It's something like 720 total shifts over 11 days, so some of us will definitely stay busy during that time.![]()
