Problem viewing attachments

Is something dodgy going on with attachments at the moment?

Of late I've been seeing 1 pixel dots when I try to view one.

This happens specifically in the Identify / Name the Babe section.

For example, I was looking at a thread earlier and the full attachment showed up fine but a few hours later after the thread had been solved it was no longer viewable.

Some new threads display them, some don't.

Update: As of this moment, everything appears to be working OK now. I can see the attachments I was trying to view earlier.

So, whether someone's fixed it or its resolved itself... I'm happy - unless it happens again of course! Ha! Thanks.

I think once in awhile there is an attachment delay. It's happened to me before. Could be a syncing issue. But yeah, tested it here, you're right, all AOK now!

I was most impressed when someone seemingly managed to ID a babe from a 1px dot attachment. Obviously they could see something I couldn't!

I have the same problem.

sometimes the attached picture produces an image of 1x1 pixels.
And it is increasingly frequent

Yep. 'Fraid to say this problem still lingers. Sometimes attachments will show, sometimes they won't.

I don't think the problem every truly went away. It's just pot luck if you successfully manage to view an attachment.

I can't apply any logic to it as it doesn't seem to be just fresh posts that are perhaps waiting approval... they can be days old and appear as a single pixel.

OK. I'll post/email more details the next time I experience it.

Seems pretty random though because it looks like it'll show for some people but not others. As I said before, I saw a thread in the identification section posted up with a pixel for an attachment and said "you might wanna try uploading that again mate" and then someone else came along and with an ID. I was like "huh?". Obviously they could see the attachment whereas I couldn't.

1) Google Chrome : Private Mode (Ctrl Shift N) : Problem occurs (1x1 pixel image, displaying blank page)
2) Google Chrome : Normal Mode : No Problem, image ok
3) FireFox : Normal Mode : No Problem : Image Ok

I see the image normally in the thread you linked.
So, you tried a few things and only in private mode with Chrome you had the problem, can other people who read this confirm this?

The other times you saw a 1x1 pixel were you also in private mode?
Did you ever try to go back to the same thread the next day or so to see if the pixel was still there?

Attachment works fine for me, but I use Opera. I keep hearing Chrome is having issues in general.

I can rule it out as being a Chrome-specific problem because I browse this forum using Firefox and I have experienced the attachment issues time and again.

I will however experiment using different browsers the next time it happens just out of interest to use it as a workaround if nothing else.

arf... i just tested few seconds ago.. and it's working... pictures displaying is ok (test link : http://board.freeones.com/showthread...-asians-please)
... the problem seems to be intermitent ...
i will do some experiments...

If it helps: I've found this problem only presents itself with attachments that are pending approval.

I find that what happens now is instead of pixel dots that you click to open, the forum just displays an empty attachment quote box for anything that doesn't want to display properly.

Also, when I wanted to post an image attachment myself the other day - I couldn't preview what I had uploaded. My post appeared blank. I just assumed that after a few hours it would appear, and that's exactly what happened.

So, it would seem that some changes have been made but the problem is still there.

It sounds like a syncing problem, we have several servers where FreeOnes and the board are stored so to speak and when you visit FreeOnes you connect to one of these servers randomly, it is possible a post was made by user X who was connected to server 1 and you are connected to server 2 which has not completely synchronized yet with server 1.

When you use the babe search on top of the page while you are on the board, then you get an error.
That is a bug we know about.

The search works fine when you are not on the board part of the site.
